    How far past the Shallowford Bridge was the cool campsite trail that was up the hill? Hoping for that to be my night 3 campsite in a few weeks.

      Man that's hard to say for sure since I unfortunately never marked it on my map, but its got to be several miles. Its a left that looks like its almost going back the opposite direct. There aren't any other turn offs like it, it can be easy to miss if you're just going and not paying attention, but if you are looking for a trail off to the left you shouldn't miss it. But its going to be a good ways past. Maybe 30 minute to an hour. ?

      @@SimplyMustGo Thank you, I looked on google maps as well to see the trail from an above view but wasn't sure where to starting looking. I appreciate it alot. We are heading out on Sept. 30th . Have watched you videos like a dozen times and took notes lol.

    Outstanding video.
    A friend and I are planning on doing this trip next month. I would really appreciate if you could share some more information about resupply and gas locations along the way. Im also interested in your opinion on the best direction. West to east or east to west ?
    Cheers mate.

    • @SimplyMustGo
      @SimplyMustGo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Resupply points are pretty easy. Pretty much as soon as you get out of any of the Forrest sections you’ll have enough signal to search for a gas station if you need it. Helen, will be a great place if it’s not too busy. I prefer it going from Alabama to South Carolina because all of the best stuff is at the end that way and you end on a high note. The Alabama side is a little less exciting.

      I have another Traverse video coming. (Need to edit it still) but it’s a VERY different video in terms of the experience. Haha. But ran it through same direction and mostly the same refill points

    What month and what was the temp at night. Heading up there in April. Also, what in car camera you using? Almost looks like it’s on a x y axis deal that really gives a real look at the terrain.

      We went in April ( during spring break ) it was great weather. Warm during the day, but very pleasant at night. Maybe mid to lower 60s. My “dash cam” is a DJI osmo 1 action camera.

    Unfortunately parts of Cashes Valley have been closed off near the cemetery due to people who have done things (trash, tearing things up as you noticed) to ruin it for everyone.

    • @SimplyMustGo
      @SimplyMustGo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I heard that. Really disappointing they had to do that. Can’t understand how people think it’s ok to do / be like that.

    At around the 32 minute mark, you say that Georgia was set up as penal colony and a debtors prison. That is incorrect. While it is true that Oglethorpe wanted to help the poor, no one was ever released from prison and brought to Georgia. Interesting fun facts though, no Catholics, Jews, rum dealers or slaves were allowed under the original charter. Some say lawyers were banned too, but that is not specifically mentioned in the charter. You are correct though about South Carolina being the crown jewel of the colonies. One of the reasons for Georgia’s founding was as a buffer between the Spanish in Florida and South Carolina. In addition, out of all the reasons for the founding of Georgia, defense was the only thing that they excelled at. However, Oglethorpe was tried in court in England when he returned home for not going into Florida to continue the fight after the victory against the Spanish (due to the fighting prowess of the Highland Scots) at the Battle of Bloody Marsh.

    • @SimplyMustGo
      @SimplyMustGo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's super interesting to hear. Maybe I was taught bad / outdated info. 🤷‍♂️ didn't know about the Oglethorp being tried. That's pretty cool. Especially as a Highland Scot I find that very cool. Thanks so much for the comment. Now I'm going to have to go do some more history research.

      The main trail yes, but not that side trail to the ridge top campsite.
