Gymnastics on that level isn’t like other sports where you can just “muscle through.” When you’re doing dangerous things that require absolute precision, it can be career ending to attempt if your body is off in any way. She made the right call in 2020 for her team and her safety.
On top of that it can be life ending. Like it’s so dangerous

The thing that upset me so much was the way people responded to her putting HER health and safety above a gold medal, like that's NOT the right thing to do.🤯 The world was not and still is not entitled to her talent. It's something she graces us with and we're lucky to experience. The fact that she stepped away and then came back even better than she was before is a testament to that talent. I'm looking forward to seeing her in Paris next month. ❤❤❤❤

The purple leo saying "But still I rise" ... immediately teary-eyed.
That's my favorite poem of all time and it's just such a perfect representation of how she must have felt with people who most likely have never done any sport (and most definitely not gymnastics) professionally not even wanting to understand how you can want something badly but your body just not letting you.
But she's come back because she just wasn't done rising meeting her potential and goals and that doesn't have to be what others want of her.
I hope Simone has a great Olym;ics, wins lots of Gold, not just for the country, but for herself. and to prove to others that you can take a break to get youre health in check then come back BETTER and STRONGER than before. Go Simone. Go Team USA!!!!
I was so proud of her in Tokyo. She did the absolute right thing for herself. It was also the right message to send to athletes who are struggling with their mental health but feel they can’t speak out because they don’t want to let other people down. It made her even more amazing in my book.
Been waiting for her own documentary, she’s the GOAT and absolutely deserves it!! I am greatful to live in a world that got to experience such amazing talent. She is literally the best gymnast to have ever lived.

@@digital2701361Maybe she will by uneducated people like you. She suffered from the twisties which every former gymnast or gymnast even at the lowest of levels can sympathise with. Twisties is a mental block where the gymnast completely forgets how to twist and they get lost in the air. For gymnasts at that level that is extremely dangerous. It’s also something that can take months to push through because you can’t learn how to twist again in one day. The vault we all saw her fail was her TRYING. And unfortunately it was to no avail. Twisting is a major part of all her routines except the beam which is what she came back and competed after. Dropping out of the team final actually gave her team a better chance to win because if she was to modify her routines and not twist (which is actually a requirement on most of the apparatus) Her scores would’ve been nothing but detrimental to the team. She wouldn’t have even got anywhere near anyone else in the competition. So dropping out actually allowed her team to give another athlete an opportunity and they came away with a silver medal.

She took a break from one competition so that she could be in a better mental health headspace and not potentially injure herself, or worse - thus not being able to compete forever? "Quit when it got hard??" She took care of herself and is clearly bouncing back now better than ever. What have you done to contribute to your country or success? Lmao. Haters will always be the loudest. She's writing her own story, in her own terms. No one can ever take that away from her.

She's an amazing athlete! She makes it look so easy that people forget that she's a real person. I love watching her perform and she's a beautiful and tremendous person. I plan to watch and may she continue being successful, happy, and an inspiration.

I don’t think anyone that’s critiquing her knows what it’s like to be SAd it’s the worst thing that could ever happen to you as a person. It breaks you down in every aspect as an individual and I’m impressed with how quickly she has able to put herself back together. I know it took me years to get over this type of horrible traumas after I was kidnapped and SAd by a former partner

I’m a gymnast and I have seen people have mental blocks and I as well have had mental blocks,gymnastics isn’t a sport you can just keep going and you’ll be fine,it is a precise thing, it’s like one move and you could get badly hurt ,but it isn’t also all about physical strength it is also about mental strength as well if you can’t mentally trust yourself it is going to be hard to do that skill or that event because you will be to scared that your going to get hurt even if you have never been hurt on the event or at all.
That’s why you’re the best of the best in the🦅🌎
Simone is a good leader, an exemplary teammate and an outstanding human being! So much lessons to be learned from her. “It’s okay not to be okay” some days are harder than others but what’s important is putting yourself in a position that you are not hurting yourself or others more! She made the right decision by looking out for her mental, physical and emotional health, we should all try and find balance like this.

Another great thing about this, besides shedding light on Simone, is that it’ll give more insight on what many gymnasts and Simone was going through.
A lot of the criticism was just… annoying. From a bunch of people using buzzwords such as “narcissism”, “participation trophies”, “victim mentality” and having no idea what they’re talking about. Imagine being about 7ft in the air, flipping all about, and having a disconnect in your brain… unaware of how to even land properly.
And the most pathetic behavior was coming from those alt-right channels and their comment section. Simone Biles is one of most decorated U.S. athletes who has done for much for U.S. gymnastics, and instead of giving her compassion and trying to understand her situation, they couldn’t wait to turn on her. Smh.
Anyways, well wishes to Simone Biles for the Paris Olympics!

Still unbelievable to me that she took so much grief for doing what she had to do to stay safe. No less an authority on grit, survival, and triumph than boxing champion Claressa Shields immediately stepped up and spoke in support and solidarity with her, in the strongest possible terms. Simone's was an act of heroism, nothing less, and if there were ever any doubters, she's proving them wrong now. She has more courage in one [impeccably pedicured] toenail than her whole army of haters have in their entire beings.

This is very interesting documentary because many people think outstanding athletes do not have imbalance lifestyles. Wrong! Championships are that, challenges all around the powerful athletes like you into the same sports. Simone Biles is and will be undefeated gymnast in United States. Just like American Idol, AGT, you have to demonstrate the audience how exceptional you are doing what you do. Each person has a life and independently what they might do, we have to support them.
