Wow man this is such an awesome guitar lesson I love it. Shred on dude.😃👍❤️🔥⚡️🎶🎸
Love it! Honestly, one of the best things explanations I’ve seen. Can you demonstrate a run that starts ascending and finishes descending ?
Great lick man! Is there a reason you're always starting on an upstroke? As you're alternate picking the whole thing, could you start it on a downstroke too?
Why not start each 5-note run outside the box? Start on e string fret 17, then start the next 5-not run on b string fret 17, then the next one on g string fret 16... and so on.
I've no idea how EJ does it but I can do it easier that way.
thanks!
Awesome playing! And the tone is so accurate too. What are you using to get that?
Thanks! I'm using a dumble patch I made on my AxeFx3. I also have some Eric Johnson patches I've made that are more accurate to the actual gear he used but the dumble just sounds so cool.
@@EpicGuitarLessonsEthan I was hoping it was a Helix patch 😂 thanks so much for the reply and the awesome lesson!
haha sorry.. my pleasure! @@ranepoppa6654
Excellent stuffan, need a right hand picking technique lesson next ?pls
Sure, will think of something!
@@EpicGuitarLessonsEthan cheers man
Usas sweep picking para hacer eso ? O solo pua alternada ?
It looks like you start with an upstroke.....thats insanely clean ...i struggle with these , especially repeating 2 notes per string on 2 string looping back and forth, is there anyway i can get an more info on these from you ?
I start with a downpick, and end up picking down up down up down | down up down up down (notice when the pattern starts over there is a quick 'sweep' - 2 downs in a row). I do offer private lessons!
Oops you are actually right! It's an upstroke. I was thinking of a different video.. my bad!
@@EpicGuitarLessonsEthan haha , your that good you don't even realize which way your picking, seriously great playing though , I've spent years trying to do that and can't get it , how much is private tuition? I'm from the UK
@@deefortyhaha thanks man I am currently at $40/half hour
Its upward picking escape motion i guess. You start with upstroke so that last note on high E string will be upstroke to get downward stroke in B string and the rest are down, up, down, up..isn’t it???
KILLER
I really dont get when people show the groupings of this lick instead of how your picking should be. Everyone knows how the grouping works on this lick dude, the only thing that matters is how you pick this cause the speed is so fast.
I assume your picking should be fast ⏩
It’s just alternate picking. Up down up down. Nothing fancy except the speed needed to sound EJ’esq
@@caseyhoward6638not true, EJ was very deliberate in his picking choices look up Troy Grady’s series on the topic
Well I’d like to assume that you pick it however you’re comfortable for your speed. I’m sure ej model his pikcing technique after that fact
In this lick, he always starts on a downstroke for each grouping, then alternate picks the rest of the line. You can see the instructor’s picking pattern. The lesson is clear enough to capture the idea and perform the exercise.
Nice clean playing. You are alternate picking everything, right ?
What guitar is that, I mean the model name? Don't Charvel's usually come with SD? Did you put Dimarzio's in? Your right hand pick attack is really good. For this style, a lot of players run super low action and hit the strings soft but it sounds like your action is a bit higher and your hitting the strings a bit harder.. it sounds really good. It sounds strattier.. like a more pure tone if that makes sense. I try to play the same way.
thanks man! Charvel Pro Mod DK24HH Chlorine Burst. Yes, the Duncans in it were pretty crummy sounding. Went with dimarzio Paf Pro in the neck and Satchur8 in the bridge (Satriani pickup). Loving the guitar. And thank you! I would say I have medium action, maybe medium low. But I tend to agree about the picking. I like to dial in the amp sound to be sensitive to my attack so I can bring out the attacks depending on how I dig in. Rock on!
What I'm most interested of is the picking because that is the most challenging thing for me especially with those 2-note-per-string patterns. Strictly alternate?
Been trying a similar riff for ages, and I can play it slow, but it is hard to speed it up.
I got it just a fraction faster than you explained it so I'm feeling like a real smartass now, but I probably wouldn't have thought of this in the first place so thanks for making the video!
Haha you go man!!
Okay, I need some picking information please
Sounds good ! and for the right hand you use the same technique as Eric Johnson i guess ?
Nice. Always loved the Eric Johnson style runs since hearing him with Steve Vai. Not much legato it's all crazy picking runs lol
Nice, but do I get it that fast by this weekend ?😂…
Did you start from upstroke???
is it all alternate picking?
great little lesson. Love that Charvel. Did you change the pickups?
thanks! yep changed them to Paf Pro and Satchur8. They are better now, but I still would like to try more options in it
Cool
Great!! Simply explained and demonstrated.
Thank you!!
Everything played on alternated picking? starting down or up? any legato on it?
Alternate picking , but every time you go down a string to reach the next starting point, EJ does economy picking for that note, so he usually does down down to grab the starting point of the next 5 sequence.
Nice nice nice! And...thank you.
Why I haven’t found your page long time ago! You made it so easy for us and I thanked you for that…
Thanks man! I only recently started posting. I've been busy teaching guitar but have wanted to start this channel for a long time!
That was brilliant, exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thanks man 👍
Just stumbled on to your channel and loving the info , great useable content
Really appreciate the sub. Will continue uploading videos the end of this week!! Had to take a week off but will be back at it shortly.
Ya, you make 2np look so easy. Nice lick as always. I dig that you keep it short and deliver the goods as advertised. Well done.
that's great! Loved it! looking forward to the second video. 🎶🎶😁😁
Nice tone you're using, is that off a Fractal unit? Would you be so kind to share what amp simulation you used?
Thanks, I'm on an axe fx 3, using a dumble robben Ford amp model. Not a traditional EJ setup but a very cool sound.
Well explained! Thx a bunch 🎸🤘
Sounds phenomenal, thank you ❤
Thanx pal!
This is so eric.. Thank
Very cool video dude I play just for fun I do some loop videos and solos I get asked for haha very nicely explained dude

great performance, but you need to delve into picking and execution techniques for your viewers as a lesson.
