Ikrimah's Transformation into a Hero of Islam Once Ikrimah embraced Islam, he underwent a complete transformation from a fierce adversary to a courageous warrior for the faith. He became a model of sincerity and sacrifice, participating in many battles to defend the religion he once opposed, offering his life and wealth in the cause of Allah. The Wars of Apostasy in Oman and Beyond: After his initial campaign against Musaylimah, Ikrimah was instructed to continue his efforts without delay. In Oman, he led the Muslim army against the rebellion led by Dhu’l-Taj Laqeet ibn Malik al-Azdi and succeeded in quelling the uprising, restoring Islamic authority. Following his victory, he proceeded to southern Arabia, where he fought apostate forces in Yemen alongside the commander al-Muhajir ibn Abi Umayyah, ensuring stability in the region. The Battle of Yarmouk: Ikrimah displayed unparalleled bravery during the Battle of Yarmouk against the Byzantine Empire in 15 AH (636 CE). He stood valiantly, charging into the enemy lines, fighting fiercely in the path of Allah. He was known to call out as he faced the Byzantine forces: “Who will pledge to die?”, leading a contingent of knights in a bold assault. He was gravely wounded in the battle but fought courageously until his final breath. He passed away from his wounds, seeking the reward from Allah and achieving his wish for martyrdom.
