Chrissy was so under appreciated in her craft, and so beautiful, I don't think most people in America got her, and understood her intensity, we will miss her! RIP
I can't believe that Chrissy Amphlett passed away . . . what a shock! She was so young and still beautiful, and I always loved her and her voice. Glad I got to see her at the Stone Pony years ago. She sure touched me with her music . . . loved Pleasure and Pain. RIP
I know now . I heard about her passing yesterday and im sick about it.. She was a true pioneer for women in rock .an Icon... I have every album in plastic covers Her voice was so amazing.. RIP
Michael Ledford I have to disagree with your supposition that most people in America didn't "get her" that is understand Chrissy. First of all, Americans did not have the opportunity of seeing the full history of Divinyls. Secondly, America is a massive country but Divinyls managed to get airplay and songs into movies which gave them a real profile there. And thirdly, I have spoken to people all over America, even in surprising places like the Midwest who were aware of them and listened to them solidly. Fourthly, Divinyls achieved a number one record in America which has been covered by many artists and they also played on national television shows. All that adds up to the fact is that their reach in America was in fact very strong and they had good support. They could have done more but they had been on the road for over a decade and the nature of the McEntee/Amphlett relationship changed substantially at this point which led to their breakup as a band. Still Divinyls can be proud of what they achieved. That was not insubstantial by any judgement.
@ Kajor S.......This reply is SO late I'm sorry. Although I'm an Aussie and knew of Chrissy's health troubles (and passing) I've only now found this. I think the CD Set is a truly marvellous idea. It would have to be run properly but yes, I'm all for that and would buy it in a heartbeat. Always loved Divinyls, (often saw them live) and would love to see something positive come out of Chrissy's tragic passing. The lady was magic in their hey-day and so brave towards the end, I'm sure Chrissy herself would love the idea. Might even introduce some of today's kids to some great Aussie music.
Does anyone think they should release a Box-set of Divinyls hits and rare demos and live performances on cd and DVD in honour of Chrissie's memory? The money from the Boxset would go towards MS and cancer research and prevention.
It makes me feel so uncomfortable and sad to see that this was Chrissy's final televised public appearance seventeen months before her death. Similar to Freddie Mercury in the 1990 Brit awards.

The Mistress of Rock and Roll so underrated best female singer in the world RIP rock Goddess
She looked beautiful right to the end,she was so underappreciated & not given the respect she deserved as an intelligent woman & great talent.

Good grief what a doll. I will miss that classy lady.
I just read she passed on tonight. She was too young. Makes me so sad.

Good to see Chrissie again but sad to see her in not so good health
xo
She was diagnosed with MS a while back, I'm assuming it's because of that.
Please Chrissie was the bitch switch , nobody like her now ! it's all folk music la la la , falling asleep music
Wow, those bands all sucked like industrial vacuums. Plus they had those annoying Aussie accents.
Except Chrissys voice was sexy as hell mate. I think he means the watered down Aussie accent that you hear on shows like The bold and the beautiful
Josh Davies The accent itself is a watered down English accent. But a bit more nasal.
