It was then used as a cover version, as shown in this video. The Sugar Hill gang are probably having to pay royalties to a group of white dudes from Newcastle upon Tyne in Northern England & Southgate in North London. The original creators of this song are all lovely old chaps from England surrounded by their grand children, much loved by anyone who knows them.

Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank and Master G introduced rap music to the world. But it wasn't until 1985 with the movie Krush Groove that Rap Music became mainstream and the rest is history.

First of all they stole their rhymes, secondly they weren't even a rap group until they were put together by an A&R, thirdly no one from the HipHop/Rap world knew who they were until they came out and lastly they only had two maybe three "rap" songs all the rest were Disco songs.

This wasn't even considered real rap back in the day when it came out. First of all they stole their rhymes, secondly they weren't even a rap group until they were put together by an A&R, thirdly no one from the HipHop/Rap world knew who they were until they came out and lastly they only had two maybe three "rap" songs all the rest were Disco songs.
