I don’t think any member of ABBA will be in Malmö on Saturday. There’s a little tiny possibility (even though it’s very unlikely) that the ABBAtars will perform Waterloo. I was a bit 'disapointed" while watching the Semi Finals yesterday.They only showed 2 seconds of Abba 1974 while waiting backstage getting ready for their victorious performance but afforded far more time for other winners.But I liked the moment where the female presenter said the phrase 'Mamma Mia here we go again" and the crowd suddenly cheered in that hint.Btw Abba's utube channel posted the winning performance that sounded far better the 2nd time around Live.All happy,relieved and euphoric.
Since ABBA songs are strongly known all over the world from 50 years till today, we like to see them back in Eurovision 2024 and to be honoured for all their success till now..❤❤
Regardless of what it is it is going to be the highlight of the show. After watching the first semifinal I have to say it is getting more outrageous every year and is far from what it used to be in 1974 and even a couple of decades ago. It is no longer about the music. I know ABBA feels that way, too.
So TRUE!! Most often nowadays it's more about the special visual effects and much less about the actual talent of the performer or the quality of the song.
I think there might be a video message from the 4 of them - I can't see them travelling to Malmö / I think Abba are genuinely humbled and proud of their fans /
I too doubt very much any of the ABBA members will be there in person. I am actually much more looking forward to them receiving their Order of Vasa awards at the end of the month. I really hope there is film footage as well as photo's of the event. The ABBA members are so humble about their success but that is going to be a proud and emotional moment for all of them.
Hello Bobby! As far as I can remember, there were always those who felt that ABBA would return to the music scene. However, even the ladies, in interviews they gave when promoting their solo albums, always said the opposite; that their music and videos would remain forever, including Agnetha who said in an interview on an English television channel: “let Abba rest”. The start of the construction of the arena in London could not go unnoticed, yet the men continued to say that it was just that show. Then, later, they said there was one new song to add to the repertoire.... then there were two songs and, finally, while the whole world was in pandemic mode, Abba were secretly recording a new album. The result: a wonderful surprise for all the fans and even for the world in general, which was happy with their return. I could be completely wrong, but... You know, in the 80s there were only newspapers and magazines... it was easier to hide something. Today there's the internet and everything is known and shared in seconds. I'd love a simple “hello” from Abba next Saturday on the Eurovision stage. Hugs to you and all the fans. You have a wonderful channel. Keep it up! 😉
Anything can happen with Abba. I don't think they will perform live or be present themselves. But otherwise everything is conceivable. Once again a very exciting time.
I also do believe this too.But i have an issue here.I haven't seen the Voyage gig yet and from a comment i've read it was noted that all snippets that got sneaked and uploaded in utube (kinda illegally) from mobiles don't really do justice to what a human eye can really 'catch" and 'see" in the Strafford arena.I wonder if this is true and also afraid if the Abbatar 'Waterloo" version got shown in ESC don't do justice either and fail to transfer the miraculous result many have talked and experienced in London's Arena.Dunno,we'll see.

@@pcch7831 In a recent interview Svana Gisla said that almost quarter (if not more) of people that go and watch Voyage are out of England!Some have watched it many times and there was some guy from Portugal that had seen this some 30 times!I know it's worth the money since even the most sceptic harsh reviewers from the medias have given it a brave 4 star out of 5!Now that's big deal really.What a triumph by Abba the group once mny of those loved to hate and humiliate back then. I'm so proud for my friends(Abba).

Just imagine what each of them would be thinking and reflecting on, while realising that it's been half a century since that very special night in Brighton in 1974. It must be a type of surreal awareness and a momentous dawning reality for each to know what they achieved musically, as one of the best selling pop groups of all time. I would definitely be watching the final just for their tribute, in whatever shape it should happen.

There is a gigantic led wall on the back, and impressive lighting rigs, which links us to the Voyage show. And the Abbatars could virtually perform any new stage show. Will they gift us with a new revised Waterloo 50th Anniversary version?
My dream is that the ABBAtars are on stage, singing abridged versions of 2 new songs, 'Hit By A Train' and 'My Story Ends with You' which are then announced as additions to the Voyage concert when it is revealed that 2 new venues are opening in Las Vegas and Australasia, and that the 2 new songs will also feature on a career-spanning anthology of ABBA'S music, featuring demos and different mixes and the Dolby Atmos versions of everything else. That's not too much to ask, is it? 😂

There will be a specially created ABBA-tar performance which I would not be surprised was created the same way the Voyage show was. I predict that ABBA secretly recorded in the outfits which they donned with those white balls that captured their movements to use with the ABBA-tars, and they captured them for an ABBA-tar performance of the 1974 Eurovision contest with a recreation of the winning Waterloo performance which will be unveiled during Eurovision final.
Either, ABBA VOYAGE will be streamed from the Voyage Arena and they will show one of those songs, ORRRRRR somehow someway they have set up a seperate Voyage screen and feed inside the Eurovision Arena. I think its the VOYAGE myself

When they said never seen before on TV i immediately thought it t be abbatar related, they might be able to have a song or two performed by the abbatars because the staging seems to be very technological this year but it's probably not that because like you said it could mean anything.

I think the tiktok video was due to the fact that UMG and tiktok have just reached a new agreement regarding the usage of their artists’ music as most of ABBA’s tiktok video have been muted, hence they haven’t posted anything for a while (bcs of the UMG vs tiktok thingy). But the hashtags are very eyebrow-raising indeed 🤨

Yes, letting the Abbatars make their Waterloo and ESC appearence for the 50th anniversary is the best tip. It makes sense in every way, That show is still running and a great way to promote ticket sales and introduction for anyone oblivious to the ABBA world of music - if there are any! 🙂
well, it's probably possible that there was a try to get the Abbatars singing Waterloo at the ESC (presented with a clip by Björn & Benny for instance) but as it was mentionned before by the organiser, if it is technically impossible, a second option is to do a tribute sequence with live artists present, a special group with big ESC names like Loreen, Eric Saade or Benjamin Ingrosso, Charlotte Pirelli could be a good idea or to reuinite all the contestants of this year together singing "Thank you for the music" as it's related to the slogan of the year "United by Music".
The ABBATARS performing one of the songs that is not included in the original Voyage set ( Super Trouper!!!) would be a genius move for ABBA , for Voyage and their entire legacy. I’m traveling to London to see the Voyage show the 5th time in June and I already couldn’t get two tickets next to each other. The ABBATARS appearance at Eurovision would make ticket sales skyrocket !
Pure speculation on my part - but there are so many clues (such as "ABBA can celebrate without being on stage" that make me think they will employ their ABBAtars to do something. I think it's EXTREMELY unlikely that ABBA themselves will be there, but that TikTok video tells me that something involving ABBA will happen (it wouldn't make sense if this video was only teasing a tribute, as it says that they are back). I think it's highly likely to be the ABBAtars, which are definitely something not seen on TV before. This is only if it's technically possible to have the ABBAtars appear, but if the people behind this ESC are also the same people behind ABBA Voyage, it's possible! This may be in conjunction with other artists' tribute to ABBA. I'll have to wait and see. 🙂
I really hope that ABBA will not humiliate themselves to ennoble the ESC 2024. It's disgusting to see what a sickening event the ESC has degenerated into. When I look at the role models of some of the participants, I feel sick. ABBA, please don't do this to yourselves.
I agree with you BB! The tiktok thing (I'm not on there) got it"s answer from other people in the comments I think. ABBA themselves wouldn't put out a message like that about showing up somewhere. They won't be in Malmö, had it been in Stockholm, still no, but maybe 5% more of a chance as it"s 'home'. They don't bother about Eurovision, it's not they're bag, definetly not anymore. They can celebrate with a toast at home, with friends and family, without cameras - they don't have to be seen in public to celebrate. I hope they will be honored at the Eurovision finals in a worthy way, maybe even with avatars or a little message in some way (maybe I'll even watch a while then), but I certainly hope the four of them celebrate the way THEY want to. Luckily no one can force them to do anything, and they never liked that circus. Here is another Swede who also loves music far to much to watch/listen to that... 🤡 I'll listen to ABBA instead, as they (actually) stood the test of time. Still our best winners! ❤

Of course we're all waitin' for something new from the four swedes. Such titles as My Story Ends With You & Hit By A Train were mentioned. But what will it be? Only time will tell. But I heartly hope we'll see them once again & hear new songs once again after the Voyage album.
The title 'My Story Ends With You' again sounds very much like an Agnetha ballad (I had known that 'I Can Be That Woman' will be an Agnetha lead before I heard the song, only by the name of the title). If they publish these two songs I really really really hope MSEWY will be a shared vocal. Their probably last song ever must not be an Agnetha lead or Frida lead. It has to be sung together.

How about actors in motion capture suits performing "live" as ABBAtars, while the original 4 members voice these ABBAtars at the same time? I think that has not been done before on TV. Looking at how Benny's piano performance was recently copied live to pianos all over the world, I could even imagine Benny playing piano live as well for his ABBAtar.

Just imagine what each of them would be thinking and reflecting on, while realising that it's been half a century since that very special night in Brighton in 1974. It must be a type of surreal awareness and a momentous dawning reality for each to know what they achieved musically, as one of the best selling pop groups of all time. I would definitely be watching the final just for their tribute, in whatever shape it should happen.

My dream is that the ABBAtars are on stage, singing abridged versions of 2 new songs, 'Hit By A Train' and 'My Story Ends with You' which are then announced as additions to the Voyage concert when it is revealed that 2 new venues are opening in Las Vegas and Australasia, and that the 2 new songs will also feature on a career-spanning anthology of ABBA'S music, featuring demos and different mixes and the Dolby Atmos versions of everything else. That's not too much to ask, is it? 😂

There will be a specially created ABBA-tar performance which I would not be surprised was created the same way the Voyage show was. I predict that ABBA secretly recorded in the outfits which they donned with those white balls that captured their movements to use with the ABBA-tars, and they captured them for an ABBA-tar performance of the 1974 Eurovision contest with a recreation of the winning Waterloo performance which will be unveiled during Eurovision final.
Either, ABBA VOYAGE will be streamed from the Voyage Arena and they will show one of those songs, ORRRRRR somehow someway they have set up a seperate Voyage screen and feed inside the Eurovision Arena. I think its the VOYAGE myself

I know that back in the late '70s they were huge sellers and had a big impact and fan base in the chaotic USSR.At least those were the infos about it that 'escaped for us here in Western European Countries medias.I also remember that Stig exchanged Abba records there and Abba got paid in oil commodities.I wish i knew more about the situation.
When they said never seen before on TV i immediately thought it t be abbatar related, they might be able to have a song or two performed by the abbatars because the staging seems to be very technological this year but it's probably not that because like you said it could mean anything.

I think the tiktok video was due to the fact that UMG and tiktok have just reached a new agreement regarding the usage of their artists’ music as most of ABBA’s tiktok video have been muted, hence they haven’t posted anything for a while (bcs of the UMG vs tiktok thingy). But the hashtags are very eyebrow-raising indeed 🤨

Yes, letting the Abbatars make their Waterloo and ESC appearence for the 50th anniversary is the best tip. It makes sense in every way, That show is still running and a great way to promote ticket sales and introduction for anyone oblivious to the ABBA world of music - if there are any! 🙂

well, it's probably possible that there was a try to get the Abbatars singing Waterloo at the ESC (presented with a clip by Björn & Benny for instance) but as it was mentionned before by the organiser, if it is technically impossible, a second option is to do a tribute sequence with live artists present, a special group with big ESC names like Loreen, Eric Saade or Benjamin Ingrosso, Charlotte Pirelli could be a good idea or to reuinite all the contestants of this year together singing "Thank you for the music" as it's related to the slogan of the year "United by Music".

The ABBATARS performing one of the songs that is not included in the original Voyage set ( Super Trouper!!!) would be a genius move for ABBA , for Voyage and their entire legacy.

I think it's EXTREMELY unlikely that ABBA themselves will be there, but that TikTok video tells me that something involving ABBA will happen (it wouldn't make sense if this video was only teasing a tribute, as it says that they are back). I think it's highly likely to be the ABBAtars, which are definitely something not seen on TV before. This is only if it's technically possible to have the ABBAtars appear, but if the people behind this ESC are also the same people behind ABBA Voyage, it's possible! This may be in conjunction with other artists' tribute to ABBA. I'll have to wait and see. 🙂

I agree with you BB! The tiktok thing (I'm not on there) got it"s answer from other people in the comments I think. ABBA themselves wouldn't put out a message like that about showing up somewhere. They won't be in Malmö, had it been in Stockholm, still no, but maybe 5% more of a chance as it"s 'home'. They don't bother about Eurovision, it's not they're bag, definetly not anymore. They can celebrate with a toast at home, with friends and family, without cameras - they don't have to be seen in public to celebrate. I hope they will be honored at the Eurovision finals in a worthy way, maybe even with avatars or a little message in some way (maybe I'll even watch a while then), but I certainly hope the four of them celebrate the way THEY want to. Luckily no one can force them to do anything, and they never liked that circus. Here is another Swede who also loves music far to much to watch/listen to that... 🤡 I'll listen to ABBA instead, as they (actually) stood the test of time. Still our best winners! ❤

Of course we're all waitin' for something new from the four swedes. Such titles as My Story Ends With You & Hit By A Train were mentioned. But what will it be? Only time will tell. But I heartly hope we'll see them once again & hear new songs once again after the Voyage album.
The title 'My Story Ends With You' again sounds very much like an Agnetha ballad (I had known that 'I Can Be That Woman' will be an Agnetha lead before I heard the song, only by the name of the title). If they publish these two songs I really really really hope MSEWY will be a shared vocal. Their probably last song ever must not be an Agnetha lead or Frida lead. It has to be sung together.

How about actors in motion capture suits performing "live" as ABBAtars, while the original 4 members voice these ABBAtars at the same time? I think that has not been done before on TV. Or it could be other artists voicing the ABBAtars at that time.
Looking at how Benny's piano performance was recently copied live to pianos all over the world, I could even imagine Benny playing piano live as well for his ABBAtar.

yeah, björn is the most likely abba member to show up there. the esc has changed and has controversial issues like the voting etc., so not everyone who once liked the esc is still a big fan of the show anymore. maybe thats part of the decision?

it's true. the tribute to ABBA at the Circus in April was really bad and boring. They didn't show up. They won't be at the Eurovision either.
