I cut up acoustic foam and put it in there then covered that with a thin piece of foam I got in the keyboard box. It really helped turn the cheap keyboard case into a really good sound keyboard
Which acoustic foam did you use?
Does it sounds like mechanical ??
The keyboard sounds like perry the platypus after you put the tape on, and not in a bad way.
@@Big-Chungus21 what does this mean 😭
I was halfway through my tape mod when I heard this video’s before and after and I knew I had to keep going
nice thanks for a 20 second tutorial unlike the 3 min tutorials
Never thought I would hear violet give me advice on keyboards, but it was actually pretty chill.
Did not expect that to be so effective
I had a redragon k552. I lubed KTT Kang whites and put them in, lubed the stabs and did tape mod. It legit sounded so thocky and all the upgrades only costed me $15
i put foam into case of my keyboard and i also did tape mod and now my blue switches sound amazing its not as anoying and as clicky as it was
Thanks for the instructions now I can tape mod my razer green clicky switch keyboard
Nice express tutorial!! I will do this with my K2 !!
Hey in theory I think gaffers tape would be even better. Its basically woven material with a non permanent or destructive glue base. Its thinker and made of fibers plus.the glue is rubber like. Might only.need.one coat and might sound even better.
one of the easiest and cheapest way to make your keyboard sound good indeed.
can you please tell us what's the recommended amount of layers for the tape mod?
3
2-4 is a good amount, 2 being an average amount, 4 being the most you should probably put on. Also, if your keyboard has a battery, you might want use electrical tape to keep from shorting out the circuit.
@@Video_FiendThanks for the answer! i know this is a very late reply lol.
i put 3 layers of tape and it sounded pretty good! made my keyboard feel less hollow.
One question though, do we need to regulary replace the tape? if so, how often do we need to replace it?
@@rezadahri564 I am glad I could help! Also, you probably shouldn’t have to worry about ever replacing the tape unless it starts to fall off, which is very unlikely if you don’t peel off the tape frequently.
Can you pleaseeee tell me how to tell if a pcb has a battery I don’t want to burn my house down :(
i added 6 layers of tape on the pcb and this foam sought of stuff with tape over that and now my keyboard sounds like it came straight from heaven
(i used masking tape if u were wondering)
i added 7 layera and papers and now it sounds like it came straight from god
@@joerenfredcuevas8198I added 8 layers and now it sounds like it came straight from dog
I love your video they make me happey when even I am sad
😁
Nice sound😊
Great video going to give this a shot tomorrow!
thanks! let me know how it goes!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial it worked out awesome! I'll upload a before and after for you!!
Hey so is this safe or nah😅??? Cuz in one of your mod videos, you suggested electrical tape cuz you almost started a fire with painters tape.
I think it is now safe imma use electrical tape bc i dont want any chances
its a fire hazard if the keyboard has a battery
@@Conraa8 Do u mean a rechargeable battery? does the rk61 have a battery bro? cuz im gonna tape it and i dont want to start a fire lmao
@@0enex736 I mean, can you use your keyboard wireless? If you can then It has a battery if you can't it doesn't lmao.
But yeah, as far as I know, not using electrical tape while having a rechargeable battery could lead into a short circuit
@@0enex736 basically if your keyboard does NOT have a rechargeable battery you can both use painters tape or electrical tape (better results with painters tape), but if your keyboard DOES have a rechargeable battery you should use electrical tape
I tapemodded my t68se and it sounda pretty good now
Cricket to Perry The Platypus!
I used 5 layers with 1mm silicone sheet. The sound mich better
Has anybody used sound dampening material? The stuff that car audio installers use in vehicles, they line panels with it to avoid rattles and make the sound system in vehicles sound more dense. I went into our local AutoZone store to buy some but they told me they were no longer carrying it.
I'm curious how well it would work in a keyboard,
Okay, I'm convinced
Def going to do my Q6
Amazing keyboard
Really good video Betty but I am scared to ruin my GK61 by doing this because i don’t have experience
for what I can see with modding GK61. The only thing that goes wrong with it is the USB C port falling off because of poor soldering job from the factory. Tape mod's relatively safe as long as you use weak adhesive tapes like masking tape
@@Sylveighty But there aren't any long time report about tape mod since it is not that old. I decided against it. Even masking tapes have a time period where they will start to leave residue.
@@flyingwolf6
tl;dr use low tack/weak adhesive rubber tape. Replace old tape with a new one ever so often if you're that worried.
if you're that paranoid you can just replace the tape ever so often, since masking/painter's tape is easy to remove anyway. adhesive residue is only a problem if it's strong enough to rip off components of the pcb (wont really happen unless you use something really strong like duct tape or have a board with bad soldering).
As far as I can tell the only real dangers happen when using stickier tapes which you don't really need and using vinyl based tapes which can conduct electricity and cause static,
@@Sylveighty Oh, so it's a known issue? I retired my GK61 because the USB-C connection became really unstable. Don't have the patience to replace the port.
doesn't it cover the rgb when you do this tape mod?
I added double sided tape on mine, they sound very 'thocky'. I have a tecware phantom 87 with outemu reds
whats double sided?
@@ginyong4651 I think it is tape that sticks from both sides (not sure)
do you need to use electric tape for wireless keebs or painters is fine?
Did this Keychron include a silicone back plate like the Keychron V3?
I want to try this on my keyboard
the eq on the before and after was obviously tampered with
Nice
Thanks
High difference❤
sticky tape is bad. over time the tape will degrade and it will leave a bad residue on the PCB
Which one is better, tape mod or foam mod or both?
Most people would say both, however, you should experiment with both, with just tape, and with just foam and see which one YOU prefer, sound is subjective.
My keyboard is mx5 mini keyboard but it doesn’t have switches so are it gonna work if I mod it?
Hi, what screw driver did you use and which one is it?
When I tape modded my royal kludge rk61 it broke right after and I mscared to do it again, is there any reasons why It broke your what I can do better? I’m just wondering.
Work on membrane keyboard?
Hi, i'm new in this hobby, can the blue tape damage the PCB in the future?
@SwitchandClickOfficial thank you for answer me
LMAO I GOT SO SCARED I TOOK MY EXIT KEYCAP OFF SND I THOUGHT I NROKE IT
Cmon now we just need to get this video 99 more likes.
that keyboard sounds like my keyboard so i think i need to tape mod mine
My keyboard doesn’t have any screws in the back what do I do!
Keychron is soooo good. My mouse is the best 25 dollars I ever spent.
Im scared it will broke cuz i cant buy a new keyboard my parent wont buy for me
Before is life
Can you please recommend some great mechanical keyboard that sounds great out of the box for India, Currently student so hardly have any money and Here mechanical keyboard are expensive due to imports. Redragon is the only company seems affordable here.
redragon are fun keyboards to mod and they're "okay" quality, not totally junk! i bought and lubed some akko creamy yellows for my k552, and added some foam to fill out the case under the pcb + tape mod, it sounds quite good :)
What kind of kcrewdriver
Please AKKO Naruto Aniversary Keyboard
Can I use sticky tape I don’t have masking tape or that blue one
No u can't use sticky tape because it will damage your pbc
Do i still need tape if my keyboard comes with the silicone?
Is this possible on the Keychron K3?
Is it valid for hp pavilion 800?
does the tape mod actually work?
What keyboard is this ?
Do not do the tape mod on a tray mount with cheap plastic it will break your standoffs.
Can you do the v4 next
Guys, is Tape Mod dangerous? Because I've heard that their keyboard caught fire afterwards, I give appreciation to those who answered...
Umm, you messed up the “x” and the “z” keys at bottom row
Can you do more than 2 layers?
yep
I broke my keyboard OOF.
Is there any risk of damaging my keyboard if I want to do that?
i am not an expert but if the glue in the tape is conductive or if you accidentally touch it while you have static electricity you can fry the pcb but these things will almost never happen
Is it risky
can i make more layers???
i did it to my ciy tester68(gk61) and it sounds so thocky
can you tell if normal duct tape is ok? 🤣🤣
what is that tape?
Will it work on membrane?
it's been 2 months but no one replied :")
hi pcb
Whoa tocccc toccc toccccc
i did mod my keyboard but it sounds the same i have blue switch btw
I have a non-hotswappable keyboard so I can't do tempest tape mod😢
It doesn’t need to be hot swappable
It's the same sound for me.
keychron or epomaker kit for 99$ ?
Can’t believe she liked your comment but didn’t reply 🤦♂️
What is the Name of the case
Rip man basically got left on read
the case is part of the Keychron V2 keyboard, you can get it pre-assembled or get a “barebones” version that comes with everything but the switches and keycaps
Why do you sound so cute?
Works with think masking tape
Just takes a lot lot lot lot longer
Can I have a keyboard? 😂
Epic
Does masking tape work?
Coooooool
not every keyboard have those screws
Hello
could you please send me a keyboard xD I have a bad $20 one
Could I use ducktape?
Is it the v1?
No, the V2
just turn upside down no need toput in the like wtf
women
Great video pin?
Wait, I don't hear a difference, they both sound like they would irritate someone hahah
"this is the easiest method to make your keyboard sound better"
*Shows that before it sounded good, and after it sounded bad*
not you again 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You are officially apart of the goofy gang🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
NAHHH why would i do this just to make it sound better💀
who said u had to? 💀
You're clearly new to the mech keyboard scene
You just changed the mic
I just used my phone...
@@SwitchandClickOfficial oh ok
also that was really fast, almost like good customer service!
The mic😂
Sounds worse afterwards.
First
Unfollowing every keyboard channel with low effort content for npc's, bye bye
byee~
Bye
@@SwitchandClickOfficial oml
Still not that good
I just unscrewed my bottom case and added the tape directly to the underside of the pcb. Is that bad? 😅
That works great! Means your case just gives you easy access to your PCB
@@SwitchandClickOfficial awesome, thanks!
Nice
