Here is a thought. It's common sense when entering a marae you take off shoes, boots or other footwear, hats and non prescription glasses (sunglasses etc) correct?! Why then do some maori party mp's wear hats and dark glasses in parliament?! Isn't parliament building (the beehive) in a round about way a marae? A great contribution that Winston Peters has made to standards, oratory and political and national progress over the years and this is no exception - Always well dressed in the style of the traditional statesman, reliably humourous and engaging but somehow always relevant/pertinent and persuasive - Its a rare breed of politician that can be counted as a national treasure but our parliament would have been much poorer without him so I think it's fair to say that Winston is getting dangerously close - And a knighthood is now long overdue - Long may you run Sir!
