The fact that you don’t have a bird vet available. Cody you do an incredible job with your birds. So proud of you. And echo is so great with all the birds. Being attentive , affectionate. I can tell he gets stressed out when he sees mumbles hurt. So amazing. Good job boys. 🪿🦆🐾🐾🐾🐕🐓
So about Mumbles . I’m glad the old scab fell off by its own & you see the new healthy pink skin . So eventually new feathers will slowly grow out but for now she’s gonna look like an old bald man 😅. If it’s possible try and film a closeup on the bad eye at some point. The duck will be fine so no worries about that, it’s unfortunately common with waterfowl to get droopy wings . It’s hard to tell just looking at a video but it could either be she’s dislocated her shoulder or it’s a sign of “ angel wing” a condition also common with ducks, geese and swans. Next time you wrap the bandage around her do it under the healthy wing and fixate the bad one that way she can still stretch out at least one wing and it also gives her more balance. I’m gonna give you a big praise for doing your absolute best to care for the birds. It’s never fun having to deal with injured animals . I still remember the struggle I had with my ducks back in the days . Keep up the good work mate 👍🏻
❤Oh WOW! I didn’t know that Mumbles has blue eyes! How beautiful!!! I have been watching since she was injured and have been faithfully watching her progress daily. It’s really nice to watch your videos. You are so caring and loving to all of your animals!!! My new favorite to watch!❤❤❤🦆🦆🪿
10 seasons of grey’s anatomy has me convinced i can do surgery no problem lol you got this! Whitt arces rehab is the best rehabilitation center around❤
I had such an issue getting to a vet for my quail! I live in Ontario Canada, and there are LOTS of great bird vets nearby, however with quail being considered livestock, none would treat my quail. I did find one vet who had the correct licensing to treat livestock because he has his own chickens but it generally wasn’t something they practised at that clinic. That vet has since retired and the clinic no longer treats any birds. The first time I took a quail there, it was during COVID and a couple was waiting outside with their cat in a carrier. The vet held up my quail and just yelled “look! It’s a quail!” through the window to the couple and their cat. 😂
I don’t know if you already watch this channel but ACCA “A chick called Albert” has a lot of great videos about common injuries & diseases in a wide variety of birds (& a couple of goats or mini horses, I can’t remember) 6:21 Mumbles wanted to eat more when her bill touched Rita’s while they were eating from the same cup. Lots of animals will eat better with some competition
My pet rabbit has started to listen to your voice.like when you say There are you going or Come here or get back here. When my rabbit heard the duck cry out my rabbit came running. When you said it’s ok. He stopped . I love how you care for your animals.Thank you for your New foul Wing of your acres. People should go back and see Mumbles as a Gosling . She is so precious .Again thank you for being a wonderful man who does care about his animals.🪿🙂
So glad to see Mumbles is improving! Love to watch your channel and look forward to the updates. I do have to say my favorite part(s) is waiting for Bert to crow and the follow up "thanks Bert" lol. I think Bert needs some merch in your store. :)
I hope the wing heals! It's a good idea to keep her quiet & away from the others. You're getting a crash course in bird-doctoring!! Mumbles is looking & acting so good! I'm sad about her eye... but she'll adjust. 😕 Their bodies are amazing! Thanks for another great video! 💕
Mumbles is looking so much better compared to when she was first attacked. Good job nurse Rita and doctor. I think the kaki needs a name maybe Coffee so she’s Coffee the kaki cambel. 🤔
Oh man I just keep watching these videos to see what all you did for mumbles. I am so impressed. You are awesome Cody. I wish there were more people in the world like you. I think mumbles wasn't eating because its beek hurt
Oh my “gooseness”, Mumbles looks great!! Watching her eagerly drinking and preening is a beautiful sight!! I’ve no doubt that Khaki duck will be feeling better in no time at all ❤️🪿❤️🦆❤️ More healing energy heading their way!!😁
You are doing a great job. I would suggest giving mumbles some scrambled eggs and or some canned tuna for extra protein to help heal and her feathers. I give to my chickens when they are molting or have an injury
I love it that they are eating. Always a good sign to me. A sign of life, a sign of hope always. You're doing great with all these critters. Love watching. Thank you for your love and care of all these critters. ❤
Good work!! Great to watch you care for the Khanki Campbell duck and Mumbles, feeding Rita, etc. Just wonderful. I miss my days helping out on the farm, and this is as close as I can get tothe real things. MUCH enjoyment for an ole lady.
I know just how much work taking care of our feathered livestock can be. I have 17 chickens on top of 6 goats. To date I've had a broken wing, broken foot, abcess on the foot, and dislocated leg. Or chickens are free range and while I'm gone I leave my dog out with the animals to keep cats and raccoons away and our rooster is pretty good at sporting hawks and getting the hens under cover when a hawk shows up. Fortunately LSU's veterinary hospital is not to far away if anything happens we can't handle.
Mumbles (to the tune of "I Can See Clearly Now"): I can see cleeeeeeaaarly now the skin flap's goooone I can see Riiiitaaaaaa next to meee. Gone is the skiiin flap that had me blind It's gonna be a bright (bright) Bright (bright) sunshiny day!
You're doing an amazing job 😊. I've had a few cats through the years and even as a nurse it is so heart breaking and frustrating to see that they are in need of care and they are unable to verbalize what they feel. Well they do but we just need to be animal whisperers and translate what they are feeling. Honestly, I've spent thousands of dollars over the years and sometimes even the vets weren't helpful. I've nursed some of my babies with common sense and thankfully they got better. Keep up the good work 👏 Your out pouring of love has a lot to do with their healing.❤
A broken wing is difficult. Most never do heal properly and more often than not the bird can never fly again. (My cockatiel had a broken wing that had healed incorrectly when I adopted her and she was never able to fly.) My vet said to clean the wound area and treat with antibiotic. Try to place the wing back into what appears to be the correct position. If you have an avian vet, they can sometimes line-up the bones and may even insert a stint into the bone pieces to keep them aligned for healing (birds have hollow bones so this is very difficult because the bones are so fragile.) You then want to dress the wound with gauze and place the wing against the birds body in a natural position so it cannot move. Wrap gauze around the birds body - over the wing, but not too tight (you don't want to cut-off breathing). The breathing mechanism for birds is different than for mammals. Mammals have a diaphragm, but birds do not. You want to keep the wing as immobile as possible. My vet said total healing time can take up to 8 weeks, just like a broken arm in a human.
We have wild ducks that come visit every day. Often, this time of the year (I live in Australia) there are a lot of injuries from fighting for mating and territory. I'd really love to know how much asprin you put to water? Anyone please?
Wow Cole , you've done wonders with Mumbles, she looks so much better - as for bird vets, don't you have any wild life vets in the USA, just asking because we have such guys here in the UK??
Research research research for Khaki! Idk if farm animals have vets online like pets but worth looking into! Talking to someone far away is better than nothing!
Something grabbed my Pekin by the wing and tried to make off with her. The bone didn't break but the muscle may have been torn. She had a wrap for a couple of days... the vet wanted to amputate but I wouldn't let them. She spent most of her time alone in her nest except when I would exercise her. It took a long time for the wing to heal and be useful again. It's still weak but at least she has it. (fyi: The sound of their wings flapping is an important part of their communication system.)
If you hold a bigger bowl of food I think that Rita actually encourages Mumbles to eat. Competition for the food. I find my ducks prefer dry food but I have also fed my injured birds with floating waterfowl food.
The Khaki may be more comfy if you get help and strap her around and then under the healthy wing. I had a duck with a dropping wing and our vet did that. Unfortunately I cannot remember what was wrong but as far as I remember it was not a break
It might be a little bit more comfortable for your khaki Campbell if you try to wrap under the non-hurt wing, that way, it can at least still flap one wing and you’re also preventing stiffness amongst a few other things
Think the ducks started a rumor? First piper. Then Mumbles hasn’t been seen. Then Rita was taken and hasn’t been seen. Khaki ain’t tryna be the next victim lol. Those ducks are gonna be running for their lives soon enough XD
Isn't there a vet that deals with birds in Morgantown? I can tell by your accent that you're near there. I took an injured dove to a vet down there. That was several years ago, though.
I binged watched all of 2023. Thank you for content that makes me feel good! Blessings abound
Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying them
Me too!
I was prepared for the possibility of her being blind in at least one eye but its still rough to come to terms with. I'm still hopeful though.
The fact that you don’t have a bird vet available. Cody you do an incredible job with your birds. So proud of you. And echo is so great with all the birds. Being attentive , affectionate. I can tell he gets stressed out when he sees mumbles hurt. So amazing. Good job boys. 🪿🦆🐾🐾🐾🐕🐓
You may already know this, you're only supposed to wrap the one wing and go under the good wing. Either way, learning from Dr Pol is great! 😃
1 eye is better than no eyes. You are doing a fantastic job, bud. Pup is too!

I hope he reads this, it is very good advice.
Thank you, it's not angel wing, I have a Cayuga with angel wing, it seems to be an injury for Khaki but we'll do what we can.

You say 'Manuka' perfectly Cody! 😊
You are so connected to your "flock." I luv that you've given most of your animals names!! And that you remember their mames!😂

Poor Mumbles change of life for her. I am so happy she has pulled through. You are doing a great job. Traveling vet-come on give some help up. 💕💕🎶🎶
"Hospital Wing" get it? LOL! Funny!

Have you ever thought about using one of the camera harnesses. I’m sure it’s not gonna be perfect but it should free up your hand.

He should have some
A majestic image of Bert in the morning sunrise, a chilly morning so you can see his breath as he sounds off. With the caption Thanks bert
Mumbles is looking very well! You’ve done a great job with her. I love that Rita is a support duck. ❤
I think Dogs are the happiest when they work. Especially working Dogs.

They f do, but they can choose not to specialize in birds or take care of them
Good night everyone 😊
Happy Birthday! Love Mumble updates!

I have to do my own first aid too. Learned from Dr. Pol and lots of research. Good luck, your doing a great job with mumbles.
Good work!! Great to watch you care for the Khanki Campbell duck and Mumbles, feeding Rita, etc. Just wonderful. I miss my days helping out on the farm, and this is as close as I can get tothe real things. MUCH enjoyment for an ole lady.

Welcome!
I really think mumbles is going to regain her full vision. She’s such a tough little goose 🪿
You truley are the bird whisperer!😅
Oh, poor baby khaki! I hope she will be okay soon.

Happy Birthday!💕🥳🥰 Hope you and all the animals had a relaxing day to celebrate!
I would be just like the doggo, bumping into him for attention and affection. 😅
man keep going itd good to see mubbels
I love watching your videos. ❤
Now you have a whole hospital for the birds🪽🐓🦆
You’re so great with the animals. It’s a sight to see
You are lovely with the animals
At least getting an X-ray at a clinic for the duck will let you know if the wing is broken or not..
Research research research for Khaki! Idk if farm animals have vets online like pets but worth looking into! Talking to someone far away is better than nothing!
Tractor supply sells Metcam btw which is a pain med for birds.
Good to know, thanks!

You should go to vet school
And send Rita to nursing school. ❤

And 1 "support" duck!
Do you have issues with the male chickens fighting?
