  • CORRECTION: I mixed up the dice rolls during combat during this episode but corrected it in the next.
Check out my latest series as I play through this beauty by Mark Herman.
Please comment any rules or strategy errors.

Thanks for doing this. The only vids available for this are after turn reports. This game baffles me even though I'm versed in the rules, so I want to see someone go through the card play and activation strategy thought process in real time.

Thanks for the playthrough. For future viewers learning the game, at 12:00 the Army of the Potomac has +2 DRM due to 3:1 force ratio. Also, it won the battle, defender wins ties except when an asterisk is rolled which was the case here.

Also, old Joe Johnston would probably have tried to retreat up the valley from McDowell in that instance. He has a chance to on a 1 or a 2 die roll.

This time you won't convince me to buy this game....because i already bought it last week and finished my first game yesterday....what a coincidence....☺ looking forward to this.

When resolving a combat, you apply the defenders modified die roll to the Att column and the attackers modified die roll to the Def column (7.31 C). I believe you were doing this the other way around. Good playthrough nethertheless.

At approx. 14:14 when you are marching through Kentucky and converting spaces. I was under the impression that only armies can spend an extra movement point to convert spaces. Am I wrong?

I'm not sure. You're probably right and I'm just bringing that rule over from The U.S. Civil War. I'll double check and make a correction in my next video if needed. Thanks!

that's right only armies can convert spaces on the go. All others forces must stop in the space and wait for the political phase end of turn. It's not that easy to get control of border states.

Stefano Tampellini I appreciate you checking that for me! I’ll correct this in the next video

I'm 3 years late but when you play a card to place pc markers you can place in spaces with friendly in supply SPs. Rule 11.3A in my rule book. For a long time I thought this card action was only good for neutral border state spaces but it's right there in black and white.

I would love for you to play For the People full campaign again. I'm learning with the game and your videos really help.

I think you did your first two moves wrong. The first Union move was a Division move and if I recall, you cannot make Division moves into anything other friendly controlled spaces. Also you can't just put PCs down as you move through them. You have to leave dudes behind then subsequently flip them with another card play. the only time you can move and put down PCs is if you are moving an Army.

Very nice presentation but please try to hide your preference for the Yankees to win...no one can blame you for being not -biased

No. As someone who’s a 10-generation North Carolinian, who’s ancestors exclusively fought for the CSA, and who’s family to this day still worship the Confederacy, I will not engage in the both-sides ludicrousness that punctuates far too much of the discussions on the Civil War
The Confederacy was rotten to the core, abhorrently and irredeemably bad. Those who have attempted to whitewash its past since are either incompetent or insidious. Full stop.
I’ll play the game as balanced as possible, but don’t expect me to weigh both sides historically as even. Just as I wouldn’t when dealing with a game on WWII

@@WargameCentral I regret to have insulted your motivation and I fully respect your views...but it's a game...I mean, I always enjoy playing the Germans in WWII, , but that doesn't make me a Nazi sympathizer, my country had suffered too much from them...

@@romiloszachariadis2334so, you can play Germans ‘without bias’, and the channel creator plays the Yankees with bias … I’ll wager both of you get similar levels of enjoyment.
I play ACW with full bias for the North. I can still enjoy moving the CSA pieces around too.
      Good gaming to you
