As a Kenyan, I always knew Ethiopia had answers to many questions about History. I can tell this was just the tip of the Iceberg. One of the oldest Bibles is also in Ethiopia. So much to learn. Love Ethiopia.
I visited Lalibela 6 years ago. I met a woman there who had spent 12 days walking to Lalibela. I'm an Orthodox Christian myself and I was stunned. She walked for 12 days in a display of devotion and I whine about having to walk up 2 flights of stairs in my office building 🤣 Ethiopia is truly an amazing country. All Christians in particular should especially visit, but everyone should visit this beautiful country at least once.
Your efforts in bringing awareness to the Lalibela Church will undoubtedly play a vital role in fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of Ethiopia's rich heritage. Your contribution to the world of TH-cam is invaluable, and I am sincerely grateful for your outstanding work.

The church area is big and the construction very interesting. That was an interesting story about the firewood. The market is a very busy place. The symbolic tomb of Jesus, Wow! That is a unique feature. The guide was very polite. In fact everybody there is very polite. Ethiopia has so much history and is beautiful. It is true, the landscapes are out of the world that we are use to. Keep up the discoveries.
Amazing amazing vlog. How the Ethiopians built those churches is definitely intriguing just like it was with the building of the Taj Mahal in India and also the Egyptian pyramids. what a vlog!!. Kenyans do not require visa to enter Ethiopia. How I wish many would know this and visit this beautiful country to see amazing stuff. I also note that you guys did feature some of the international brand hotels in Addis that are quite expensive but, the good news is that there are a number of other 3 stars hotels near Piassa in Addis, which are very modern, nice and affordable from $20 per night.
@himm.. @Douglas: what made you think that these rock-hewn churches were built by the actual Ethiopians?? HINT#1: just about all notable structures in Abyssinia/Ethiopia have been built by foreigners [Yemeni Arabs, Syrians, Byzantine/Greek monks, Ottoman Turks, Portuguese & even Portuguese-hired Gujarati Indian stonemasons, etc.]. For example, the famous Gondar Castle/Palaces were built by Portuguese & Gujarati Indian architects in the 16th century [1500s]. These foreign builders were hired by an Ethiopian warlord-cum-emperor all the way from the Portuguese enclave/colony of 'Goa', located south of the Indian city of Mumbai/Bombay. These Portuguese architects brought with them the well-known Gujarati/Indian stonemasons & carpenters who helped build the mentioned castles/palaces, the first stone+cement bridge on the Blue Nile river, many churches, etc. These foreign builders - like many others before them - were commissioned/hired by an Abyssinian/Ethiopian warlord-cum-emperor who happen to be the biggest slave trader in Ethiopia. PS: guess how all those foreign builders, stonemasons & carpenters were paid by Ethiopian emperors or kings throughout its long history? HINT#2: by exporting slaves to the Arab & Islamic worlds, to Persia, India, Indonesia, etc, on a massive scale! ALSO, in modern times most notable structures in Ethiopia have been built - and continue to be built - by the Italians & the Chinese. AND, how do modern-day Ethiopians pay the Chinese to build the new stuff?? Ahaaa! Do you want a HINT#3 on this last aspect? SMILE. Bye.
@@yaballo1 How I wish that we could travel back in time to discover who and how some of these intriguing structures were constructed in Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan. But, note too the enormous cost in human suffering it took to build the old stuff we admire today as tourists, etc. Now, the dark & sad legacy of the millennia-old & massive slave trade from the Horn of Africa [Abyssinia/Ethiopia] is still being felt in Ethiopia today. Many of the never-ending inter-tribal feuds & bloody wars in Ethiopia are BOTH a continuation & the effects of the mentioned human sufferings that fed & sustained some of the oldest slaves-trading & domestic slaves-owning systems in Africa & the World. As well as the mentioned export trade in slaves, Abyssinia/Ethiopia also had a very extensive domestic slave trade & slaves-owning/using systems on farms ["gebbars" or serfs], etc. This awful economic system lasted till as recent as the 1974 G.C. when a military coup d'état ended-up deposing the ancient Abyssinian/Ethiopian feudal system & its royal dynasty whose last head was Emperor Haile Selassie [Ras Tafari Mekonin]'. Absolutely lovely video, quick question, does the treehouse room have electricity? Planning a visit myself and didnt know about this place
Yes they do!
I visited Lalibela last year in Sep by myself and stayed at the same hotel, and I was the only guest checked in. No Wifi, internet, tv, phone but it was safe and I still keep in touch with my driver.
We really had a good time too :)
