  • Norma Jean and Hundred Suns vocalist Cory Brandan tells us the story of how he came to be the front man for two of today’s metal scene’s most popular bands. We learn about his transition from guitar to vocals in the early days and how just when he was ready to give up on music, the right call came at the right time.

Thanks for doing this. Cory is one of the few screamers who does it right. So much so that his voice still sounds as good today probably even better!

Cory Brandan It was in reference to the metal “community” going into an unnecessary uproar, about your mistaken humor on twitter.

    "Mistakes are cool".
Man, yeahh. Not only that; how can someone learn from mistakes? You have to make them. For example, make thousand fails, to find that right one. People are afraid, to do something, cause they know, they will fail and can't get over this fact.
I think, it is important, to keep things in motions. Because if you will make many mistakes and you will be a phenomenal at some stuff - like playing on drums, bass, guitar, with vocals, whatever... you will realize, that after all that hard work, you didn't NOTHING wrong. Cause all these mistakes were important, for your actual form and understanding. So go ahead.
And Cory, your lyrics, philosophy, charisma, i've learned so much thx to you and your friends from Hundred Suns and Norma Jean. Your brother Matt is doing phenomenal sound magic. If i can only shake hand with you and say to your face "thank you for everything", it will be one of the most greatest moments in my life. Ahh shit, my emotions are bleeding through again...

I totally agree. I go in to things with the best intentions, motivations, etc. etc. in mind, but also with the expectation of failure. You literally cannot improve yourself if you never fail, and never learn from your mistakes. While I'd rather NOT fail, I look forward to acquiring the ability of stepping back, reexamining the situation, correcting the flaws, and trying again. I feel musicians have a particularly strong and effective platform of professing such an ideology. Especially in metal, the music is usually connected with pain and suffering. Each song and each album tells a story, and we get to experience their story through the music, and get to watch them overcome things and grow. I just think it's all really awesome XD

@@LT_Dangles_Music beautiful comment. look at all hail / redeemer, these records were made around sad backstories and etc and how emotional they sound. and i love your analogy, this is almost inspirational.

It's hard to believe that with almost 100,000 views at this point, there are still only 15-20 comments :thinking emoji: ... Also, there is only A SINGLE dislike, which is amazing to me.
To anyone who bothered reading this, I hope you have a wonderful day :)
