It all started with some delicious, fresh local seafood for breakfast. SuTuKil is a tasty 3 course fish breakfast, and a popular Filipino food in Cebu.
To continue our Cebu City street food tour, we went to a place to eat sizzling pochero. Pochero is usually found as a soup, but this massive beef bone sizzling pochero is served on a sizzling hot plate covered in rich and flavourful gravy. We couldn’t believe the size of the sizzling pochero!
Filipino food in Cebu Philippines truly is insanely delicious. To try some of the best street food in the Philippines, we tasted the local Cebu chorizo, a popular street food in the Philippines. We finished off our insane Cebu City street food tour at a local night market to taste some popular Filipino street food. We ate balbacua and a must eat Filipino street food, grilled balut. The grilled 16 day old balut was covered in a spicy sauce, making the grilled balut super tasty and giving it a much different taste than regular balut!
If you’ve never tried grilled balut, we highly recommend this street food in the Philippines.
We hope you enjoy our insane Cebu City street food tour, tasting grilled balut and sizzling pochero, as we explore the Filipino food in Cebu Philippines. Stay tuned for more street food adventures!

What's up everyone!
Have you ever tried Balut? Would you dare?
Thanks so much for watching! 🧡😊
I can eat 4 or 5 when hungry, btw welcome to cebu
They can go down quickly, can't they!? Thanks so much for watching 😊 enjoy your balut!!
@HungryTwoTravel Yup! I actually grew up having a few. Hahaha!
It depends on how mature the chick is. There’s such thing as "balut sa puti". "Puti" literally means white, and that just means the chick hadn't developed so a lot of feathers and doesn't look as gnarly as some exaggerated reactions seem to portray.
Btw, duck eggs have higher cholesterol, so don't consume more than one at a time.
@@CrisXing Thanks for the tip, Cris!
Hi Chris and Steph! Yet another phenomenal video from your Philippines series. That fish breakfast looked hearty and delicious! And that sizzling pochero- I have to find some!! 😂
Feng! Oh that sizzling pochero was next level, so much meat and straight up fall off the bone, we could definitely go for that right about now! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊
Holy moly, what an amazing breakfast!! Definitely different from a Canadian breakfast😊!
How did you eat that Balut, Chris????
It sure was a bit different than your Canadian breakfast! The balut was different than the usual one, being grilled with the spicy garlic sauce made it extra tasty 😉
Great job on another delicious video! The fish breakfast looked extremely tasty! Interesting to see the preparation of the sizzling pochero I’ve never had beef shank on a sizzling plate like that. And I will admit.. I’m not brave enough to try Balut! 🙈😜
Thanks so much, Lynds!! The sizzling beef shank was to die for, you'd love it😜 balut totally gets a bad rap, but it's so not as bad as it seems, we promise! Thanks for watching and commenting🧡🧡
Part Ebelle was in my list of places to eat at but I still missed out as other people's preferences often interfered. Next time for sure, and Pochero de Cebu will now be added to the list also. That balbacua looked very delicious, that would be in the list also. I make balbacua here in the US but not complete as one of my kids is allergic to peanuts. It's just not the same without the peanuts. Interesting, the grill for the balut was specially made for it, first time I'd seen that. And the chili they used looked like the ones used for Ngohiong egg rolls. Good, nice and relatable content. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment, linikit. Part Ebelle is definitely a must visit, the blue marlin was one of our favourites, but you can never go wrong with fresh kinilaw🤤 Grilled balut is quite popular, you see it mostly at night markets and the grill they've made for it is just perfect, isn't it?
We hope our video brought a little bit of home to you in the US! All the best to you 😊
Hello Chris and Steph that was a interesting video.what is the taste of calamansi.enjoy your life 👋👋🙏🙏
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Richard. Calamansi tastes somewhere between a lemon, lime and orange, it's very citrusy and refreshing, we love them😊😉
Hello there, you hungry two persons! 😊
I think we call the bone marrow stew just "bulalo" from my part of the country (Tagalog region) and the fare that Chris had would be called "sizzling bulalo". It's not uncommon that dishes might have different names because there are regional languages in the country. That being said, I also believe that every food is good, although the appeal of dishes vary from person to person. I personally pefer the soup version with lots of veggies with extra "caldo" (broth).
The local chorizo (or longanisa, in some places) are typically spiced and preserved with salt, pepper, garlic, and paprika that lends the reddish color. Some add annatto or atsuete for color, if they prefer. The taste of chorizo/longanisa vary from place to place, depending on ingredients popular with the local population. Some can be more garlicky / sweet/ spicy depending on local taste and more easily sourced ingredients.
The strings Steph noticed are used to "make a piece/unit" of longanisa. The ones you had were wrapped in pig intestine and a string is needed to "seal the ends" of each chorizo. Some remove it before cooking/serving since it is not eaten, while some just forget to remove it. 😅 At home, I use a "skinless method" with baking paper to wrap and mold them, then just slide them off into the pan when they're ready for cooking.
I have mixed taste experiences with huge and dark meat fish. Maybe I'll try some more places and dishes to figure out what other things. For the mean time, the bony bangus remains my fave fish.
Thanks for this food tour. Will there be dessert next time? See you two next meal! ✨️😊🫶🏻🫰🏻
Hello Cris! Always so good to hear from you 😊 the sizzling pochero was great to try, we enjoy it as a soup as well though, we've found that the soups in the Philippines are always so delicious. We love your skinless method for the longanissa! That sounds like it would be really tasty😋 the blue Marlin we had was really good. Very flavorful and meaty, but the bangus, that's always a good choice! Thanks as always for your incredible comment Cris! We appreciate your support, and will try to get some desserts in for ya next time😉😋🤤
Hi Chris and Steph, guys the best way to eat food in Cebu or in the Philippines is to pair it with rice, or the local Cebuano style 'puso' (hanging rice). The local foods are very rich in flavour, whether they are salty, sweet, sour, or spicy, so the rice's neutrality will balance them out.
Yes we agree, rice does pair perfectly with the Filipino dishes. Sometimes it's just too much on our food tours to eat with every meal😅 but we do enjoy it, especially the puso 😋 thanks again for watching and for your comment, Elgadric 😊
the lato is best paired with Grilled fish dip in soysauce with chillis onions and Tomatoes.
Ooo that sounds good! We'll have to try that next time, thanks for the suggestion, and for watching! 🙂
Great love u both beautiful food video thanks. Have u been to Pakistan
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Iftikhar 😊 no we haven't been to Pakistan, we would love to though!
What an incredible food adventure! That pochero was to die for 🤤 And Chris handled that grilled balut like a pro 😁
Thank you so much for sharing your food experiences with us ❤
We've really enjoyed exploring the food in Cebu, there's so much to try! Balut is really starting to grow on us 🥚 Thanks a lot for your support guys😊🧡
Afiyet olsun.
Çok teşekkürler 🙂
I salivate thinking of the pochero bone morrow.
Oh my gosh, that was on another level! We're salivating now too 🤤
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
😊😊😊
I love that fish ultimate bite! Which of the three fish dishes was your fav Steph?
Sooo good😋🤤 I'd probably have to say the raw kinilaw, that was really good, very close second would be the blue Marlin, that was insanely tasty
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks for watching!! 😊😊
Always enjoy your guy's videos. It's indeed rare to see a white female from the States enjoy authentic Filipino food. I salute you.
Thanks so much for watching, Ray! But we're both from Canada😉🇨🇦
How far ahead of time do you have to arrange with these restaurants to film their dishes in the back?
It depends on the place, usually a few days at least ;)
While you were in Cebu, you should've tried the local dish they are most famous for which is letcheon. That's if you eat pork.
Yes, we most definitely tried Cebu lechon and we actually went on a Cebu Lechon tour! Check out the video 😉
