Im just an electrician but want to try this kit out! That's why I don't quite get the Arduino part. If I buy the Uno version with the kit, is there an USB included with the program? I don't code that much..
Hi Somnium, just an electrician??? Don’t sell yourself short sir! You’ll probably shock yourself way less than I did during this project :) Step 1: You can buy the kit in the links and program the Arduino with the firmware version provided by the manufacturer. No coding knowledge required. Step 2 (optional): if there is still gas in your tank then you can dig into my version and features link internet time sync etc...
A list of the factory can be found here: gra-afch.com/product-category/shield-nixie-clock-for-arduino/ and then I added some things covered in the final build video, but yes it does do the date and room temperature .
Nice work. I like the technique you use to align the tubes on the board. Where did you get the PCB holder, I like this one ! Again, well done ! I may get this kit based on your video.
The PCB holderI used in this video was purchased off EBay: www.ebay.com/p/12019103604 Hopefully that link remains functional. Otherwise you can Google "Circuit Board Repair Soldering Station PCB Plate Holder With Two Caliper Clamp Z" Thanks for watching!
Hi, I have a T12 clone like this one: amzn.to/34T9pBG It works really great at this price and has convenience features like auto OFF/Standby and temperature boost. T12 tips can also be changed quickly without a tool. I believe a 60W iron should do the trick, you may run into some stubborn large ground pads that are hard to flow.
The specific kit version may have been updated at since I produced this video but the manufacturer still makes the NCS314 shield: gra-afch.com/catalog/diy-kit-for-nixie-tubes-clocks/diy-kit-for-shield-nixie-tubes-clocks-in-14-ncs314/
Thank you so much for doing this! I purchased one of these and was overwhelmed with it. After watchin this, I think I'm ready to start building mine!!
You are very welcome! 🙏
Built a few of these and just use sockets for the tubes. Perfect fit every time.
Could you make one that’s a dice roller instead? I’m looking for a Nixie tube 7 die set roller for playing dnd

It seems the I'm unable to locate the specify kit you used. Which one is it?

@@buildxyz ah thank you so much. I attempted to navigate their website but managed to only find a kit that was near $600, lol.
@@a6o932 I bought it from their EBay store, they have 2 stores, have you tried there?, it was more in the $200 range if I recall correctly.
yea.. im not ready for this.
😍👍
You don't need no stinkin' Arduino to make a nixie clock! Get real.
