Yeah. It's mostly accurate to the manga but they cut out 30% of the Big Chungus arc. In the manga, Big Chungus was such a complex character, to the point he even felt like a real person. But Surreal Entertainment Studios had to take out most of the scenes with him, so they could focus in the main conflict of this season, the invasion of Thirst Man. I think this will affect the impact of BG's death, since anime-only fans are much less connected to him. But only time will tell.
The only way that Shaggy or anyone could defeat Thirst man is by quenching his thirst. Which is very hard to do because Thirst man's Thirst is as limitless as his power
