    FYI I have a titan 250 and the manual says to use 10W-40. I found it at auto zone in the diesel/motorcycle section. Specifically it’s the valvoline motorcycle 4 stroke 10W-40 full synthetic. You mention “break in oil” but all my research said that the oil that the bike ships with is just to prevent corrosion and you should change the oil immediately, so I did. I’m curious to know if you used a designated break in oil or if you were referring to the shipping oil.

      My instruction manual clearly stated it had break in oil and to change it after 300 miles. I used ON X off-road tracks to get to the 300 miles. I have used Rotella 10W-40 and 15w-40 oil in the past on my KLR650 where it worked OK with the other mods I had on that but not great. I am going to stick to the 20W-50 on this based on my previous experiences.

      I just got a bike. I’m scared to start it with that shipping oil, let alone ride with it in there 😂. One of my first tasks will be changing it to gooood quality 4 stroke oil.

      Just bought that bike 2 days ago. It’s smartest and most safe to change oil immediately. But since you’re not supposed to ride fast or far for the break in period, riding the shipping oil won’t tremendously hurt it unless you’re dogging the bike. I haven’t changed mine yet do to weather but mind you I only circled my parking lot twice after assembly. Best advice just put the 4t synthetic 10w-40 before any serious riding

      I always use shell T4 oils for all my bikes. It is simply the best and prevents slipping on the cluch

    There's also an extra plug underneath the seat I can see it and it doesn't plug into anything I don't know what it is for

    You need a wet clutch type oil for this bike

    • @dustinthegarage
      @dustinthegarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s 20/50 motorcycle oil. For wet clutch applications, don’t worry.

    Can I mix 10w 40 atv oil in the gas or will that mess things up?

    Who told you to torqe an oil drain plug? It doesn't hole anything together. Like a head bolt .😅

    • @dustinthegarage
      @dustinthegarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      All bolts have torque specs. Car oil drain plugs have torque specs between 20 and 50 lbft of torque. Why would you not torque them to the recommended settings?

      Wats wrong with 20 /50

      @@luisacosta3509 the weight/rating of oil depends on your area.
      where I used to live it was hotter - so 20/50
      where I live now its higher elevation, dryer & cooler - so recommended is 14/40
      but on some I run 10/40 because I have a case of it lol
      on my CAT its 14/40 (wet clutch) so got a bucket of that
      in my car is 20 synthetic - so run whats recommended for your area.
      for my ATV it recommended 10/30 or 10/40 [depends on who you ask] lol
      where I lived long ago my bikes were 30wt, they did fine there.
      up here its different and 10/40 is fine. [I got some of that] ;)
      look in your owners manual for "recommendations" for your engine.
      in fairness I used to rune 20/50 because my VW liked it, but that was a different area & it was a hotter place.
      oils are better now, So look at whats recommended for your area and temperatures.
      * and yeah someone will always say your wrong. lol
      my guess? they run somewhere else.
      If I go to the dessert or to the beach? I change accordingly. [there will be someone telling me Im wrong tho] ;)
