Great footage again well done, that cutting you were walking in is the longest cutting on The Great Centrals London Extension. I walk it regularly it is very wet at the moment. The Ashlawn Rd bridge is the highest point in Rugby, the line was on a falling gradient towards Braunstone and Willoughby station. That's why the drop is so high.

Hi Paul so much railway history in Rugby I never knew. Great to see an in depth film of Rugby. So much to explore, very nice old bridges with the blue brick which is typical of GCR. very intersting old pictures & video. Thanks Paul. 😊❤👍

Thanks ever so much Carol. A very interesting location and an important milestone on the GCR.

Great old pictures and footage again. I rather loved the benches with the railway blending in to nature. Nicely done. I know quite a bit of work has gone in to the murals on the bridge at Rugby but they could have done a little research first! Was that a water tower beyond the end of Rugby platform? I wonder if anything remains in the trees. The beautiful bridges just always get me...the final one, and the view down the cutting. Beautiful.

I wondered the same about the water tower. There has to be something left, surely. Even just a pad or something.

The GCR was built for speed and comfort but thrown away after 67 years.
    What a waste.
