I lost my normal voice almost 30 years ago for about 2 horrendous years... And after having seen the top otolaryngology experts in the US...the only thing that helped me were the suggestions of the voice therapist at the clinic of one of the Drs who said he couldn't help me, who gave me these & a few more voice exercises...which solved it in 2 weeks, & I do to this day. I even send her a Thank you note every 5 years!
But it's important to remember that the results show after 48 hrs... So everything you do, is for a 2 day delayed benefit. Something NO ONE ever told me, which would've saved me a LOT of frustration.

There's some misinfo here or a least the info given was misunderstood...it's not exactly about increasing airflow but proper use of air flow and coordination.
The water bubbling is about opening the back of the throat to keep it from getting squeezed as mentioned here, and no vocal fry is NOT damaging to your voice if done properly and used when needed.

Vocal fry is not damaging to the voice. It's part of many vocal warm ups and, personally, helps me relax my vocal chords.

I wonder if gargling with plain water would have the same hydration affect?

No, gargling wouldn't hydrate you (unless you drink the water after), but gargling is another beneficial voice exercise, often prescribed by doctors like the ones in this video

Gargling is a great tool just generally, but not a total fix for what he's talking about. It's PART of the total picture.

I give Ruffini a D grade for this story. There's a lot of misinformation she shared that is from her misunderstanding or altogether mishearing proper and improper use of voice. Watcher beware. Fortunately, there's plenty of educational TH-cam videos about proper use of the voice.
