- Peter & Kitra experience Halloween Horror Nights 2019 at Universal Studios Hollywood. How does Hollywood compare to Universal Orlando’s HHN29?
This year’s event includes 10 mazes and 5 scare zones, but no terror tram (sad face). The Horror Nights mazes include Ghostbusters, Stranger Things, Us, Frankenstein vs Wolfman, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, House of 1,000 Corpses, Holidayz in Hell, The Curse of Pandora’s Box, Creepshow and the Walking Dead Attraction. The scare zones include Fallen Angelz, Spirit Demons of the East, Christmas in Hell, Toxxxic Tunnel, and All Hallows Evil. We experience them all and show you a highlight reel of POV footage from all the mazes and scare zones, accompanied by our reactions. While the bigger franchise properties are the same as the ones in Florida, the creative execution of the haunted houses is completely different.
We also try out the Ghostbusters-themed Slimer’s Dirty Water Dog and the Ecto Slime cocktail and admire some of the other event treats from afar.
Here is a rundown of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 2019 mazes.

“Ghostbusters,” Sony Pictures’ classic 1984 film comes to life for the first time ever in this all-new maze

“Killer Klowns from Outer Space,” the popular 1980s horror sci-fi film lands at “Halloween Horror Nights” in this all-new chilling maze
“Creepshow,” maze inspired by the 1982 cult classic movie directed by George Romero and Shudder’s brand new anthology series, reimagined by acclaimed make-up artist, director and executive producer, Greg Nicotero
“Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man,” inspired by Universal’s original cinematic monsters and the movie studio that invented the horror film genre
“House of 1000 Corpses,” inspired by Lionsgate’s 2003 cult classic film and directed by multi-platinum recording artist and filmmaker Rob Zombie
“Holidayz in Hell,” an all-original maze featuring demented versions of everyone’s favorite seasonal celebrations

I was thinking I would be very disappointed by Hollywood after experiencing Orlando’s HHN for the first time but I was surprised at how much fun I had with both the big and original mazes this year. Hollywood can still learn some things from Orlando though.
True, but Orlando can't be taught 72 degree summer nights with 30% humidity. It's so miserable when I went I never want to go back in summer.
Peter Sciretta they also have more space and a bigger budget. There’s basically no comparison between the two coasts

I got scared a couple times but it’s amazing what the camera does when going through a maze. It is more than a shield but it almost makes it feel less real as I’m often looking at the screen.
Bravo Peter for keeping such a steady hand while all these things are jumping out at you. You’ve got ice in your veins! Thank you both for all your hard work.

I went that year before I became a scare actor and was terrified of my own shadow- I went solely because I had a huge stranger things obsession. Now that I’m older and a scare actor I feel like I would love it so much, but back then I left early because I was terrified to wits end 🤣

The Ghostbusters experience is THE BEST!!! But I wonder about the types of people that are roaming about confronting people and almost hitting people in the face??? Unless the park did criminal checks, you never know who would do that sort of work. I am with you Peter - Toxic Tunnel is just too TOXIC!

This was a fun and scary time. I liked the demented take on the holidays. The Ghostbusters, Killer Clowns from Outerspace and Strangers Things mazes were awesome. The twin sisters could be the Crypt keeper's long lost family members.

Florida is bigger, better and way more humid and hot. The creativity in Florida seems to be much higher than in Hollywood, which is maybe ironic.

When I’m scared I talk, so when I’d get lunged at, I’d be like “Hi! I’m looking into being a scarer here actually. What do u recommend I do to get the job?” We’d just stare at each other for a second, I’d take a pic then HIGHTAIL IT OUTTA THERE

Did you guys like the Orlando or Hollywood event better? Also, you are the only people who have said they like the Hollywood Stranger Things maze better than the Orlando one!
Orlando is bigger and better but there is something unquie about doing it in Hollywood where you get to walk through the real backlot where many movies are filmed
Ordinary Adventures As a movie fan, Hollywood sounds extremely cool. But for me at least, it will probably come down to the fact that flying to Orlando usually isn’t as pricy as LA

The scare zones and scare zone actors in Orlando are better but in Hollywood it’s a lot more atmosphere and a lot less people that makes it funner

Awesome video! It's super helpful to see HHN comparisons from both coasts actually as we only went to Orlando's back in 2015 and are hoping to make it out to Hollywood's this year to film. I'm assuming HHN Hollywood still allows filming in the houses on non-media nights..? Their website's info was a bit confusing - "Food, drinks, bottles, recording/flash photography, flashlights or laser pens are not permitted in the Mazes."
I’m not a 100% sure but it seems like as long as you don’t turn your flash on you’ll be ok!
@@OrdinaryAdventures That is how we're interpreting it which isn't a problem. Coming from Phoenix just about every haunted house or maze doesn't allow filming so one can never be too careful! 😅

Sony a6400 with the 16mm sigma 1.4 lens. We are liking it but the no stabilization is tough. This video we shot with a gimbal which I’m not sure I’ll do again as it was very physically taxing.

The merch was mostly the same as the stuff in Orlando. I don’t think there was anything unique just the same stuff but Hollywood branded on in.

Kim McCarthy we got the glasses at the end of the night but we’re too exhausted to film it. We really should have. The two guys were The creator of The Hundreds, which is a street ware brand that coproduced these pieces of art, and Tristan Eaton, the artist. We had recorded a thing explaining this but figured people probably were more interested in the mazes. We started with three hours of footage and cut it down to the 31, it’s very hard to choose. I’m glad you care tho! He’s a great artist.

Guys I'm from the UK and we always go to Orlando thinking of going to Hollywood for the first time next year , is it worth it ? Video looks great but just trying to understand the differences and if I will be disappointed as it's a lot of money for us to fly over ,thanks
Orlando is bigger and better but also a lot more hot and humid and crowded. Hollywood is fun but doesn’t have the creativity of Orlando and is just different. For instance the mazes in Hollywood have a lot of black hallways between rooms which are kinda like pallet cleansers. Some people hate this, some people like this. The park itself in Hollywood is a working movie studio with a theme park built around it, where as Florida is the opposite, a theme park primarily that almost pretends to be a studio. There are advantages and disadvantages. I love the studio tour in the normal park hours. If you can do a vip tour of the backlot that’s also awesome.
Does universal Florida have lots or real movie history and such? Same as Hollywood?.

I attempted to go all the way atop of the hill using the stairs instead of the escalator? Big mistake!! I went all the way down no problem, but going up was an entirely different matter for sure!

Hi. What kind of camera do you use? I keep seeing so called professionals and others on you tube using crappy bright lights that just ruin everything they are recording, but I see you aren't. I want that kind of camera, one that works well in the dark w/o a bright ugly light to ruin the mood.

All we meant is everything is bigger and better in Orlando, they spend more money on it, there is sooo much more food and immersive scare zones. We love the hollywood version too but it’s definitely noticeably different
great video...def think the Orlando park is better. wondering if a wider angle lenses would help capture the feeling of being there better.
Strangely the lens we used is a 16mm ultra wide angle lens. It’s hard to tell in the small cramped mazes tho

Orlando theme parks are way bigger then California .. they each have there plus and cons.. Im only use too California theme parks haven’t experienced Orlando yet .

I think that’s just because of our fast lens which sees better in the dark than our eyes
