Like the crank & solar panel. My first radio in 1966 had no batteries but ran off crystals. Wish they would use today's technology with crystals,it would be interesting. Look forward to seeing your new videos. Thanks!
I have a little camouflage radio very similar but the fact you can plug in other things and charge them makes this radio just a bit better. I found mine at a local goodwill store for 7$ and it works great, it sleeps in the closet with my candles waiting for the time of need. Handy little things everyone should have sitting around.
for $7, that is a great addition in case you need it. When hurricane Fran went through we were out power for 2 weeks. One of these would have come in handy
The "mic" on the front panel is for hands free using a smart phone. I have one of these radios, and the temp display is reading 8-10 F. lower than the actual temp. Otherwise it's a great unit. Some 18650s won't fit, so be careful when you buy additional batteries. I believe they are unprotected which makes them shorter.
This sounds like my XHDATA D-109 as far as speaker and audio quality. I think HXDATA is making some quality radios for the price and they came out of nowhere. They definitely don't feel cheap like some of the other junk out there. I like their brand name better than some of the ridiculous names radios are coming out with (as seen on @mazon).
Help, our local emergency services just went to 800 mhz. People here do not understand the difference between analog vs digital where their old scanners are unable to pick up the new frequencies. For example my 1990’s trunking scanner does not work in today’s world.
If you want better reception just run a simple wire outside and clip it onto the antenna with a alligator clip the reception will burst into life yourl be amazed , i know that you know but mabe some viewers wont , because reception with that antenna won't pick up much indoors
This is the absurd thing about Chinese radios. They put a solar panel on the radio. No body keeps there radio out in the sun. It also increases the bulk of the radio making it less attractive.

Its nice to have multiple charging/power options, good thinking!
It is a good idea, for something like a hurricane, power could be out for a while for some.
i ordered main from XHdata website last week.cant wait
Glad to hear it, it is a great little radio
The SOS siren could wake the dead!
@@richardmerriam7044 agreed 💯
Hi Eric that's a nifty radio looks and sounds great. All the best.reg in Dublin Ireland 😅
Thanks, the best right back at you
Looks good. They already raised the price 5 bucks, can't remember if a charger came with it before though. Thanks for the video.
That is inflation at its worst-
8 months later, they just include a USB A to C cable. No wall wart.

Thanks for sharing that- it is good to know
@@FarpointFarms Also, you'll see the 'passive radiator' inside the rear panel. That boosts the bass.
Good morning! Nice radio with features to keep you informed and not stumble around in the dark
good points
Interesting little radio, and the price isn't to bad.
It is a good one to have if you live a in weather prone area

I agree, their quality is good. I have seen some other brands that are just not worth it
Love mine! Just want to check, was your tuning knob a little wiggly?
Maybe, I honesty did not pay that close attention to it. If it was, it was not in a way that I thought that it was broken

You are absolutely right. I have a nice base and handheld scanner which I can only use for the weather.
It's an ongoing issue. There is currently no easy way to deal with this yet.
Is Xhdata d608wb good on FM? Thanks.
It is hard to me to say yes or no on this. Where I live it is very difficult to get any radio signals due to the mountains where I live
The biggest flaw is the rotary encoder that stiffens after a turn at a specific point. Team XHDATA has to wake up and rectify this.
maybe they will read the comments and see what they can do
Amazon just marked this down to $31 USD. NOV 4, 2024.
Goof price on it
I returned it, cause no am reception at all.
That's odd- it should have AM reception. I am sorry to hear that
missing the old song intro!
I was trying something new
@@FarpointFarms I appreciate your channel very much! Keep up the great work

Thanks for sharing that, it is a great tip for better reception
Yeah play with it for a while so you know how to use it then throw it in a grounded metal trashcan
Good insurance plan

I don't know. For camping, I think it's a great idea. Same for a long term power outage. It could come in handy.
They should package the solar panel seperately with wire and jack.
