Thanks so much for the review of this amazing instrument, I've played congas for over 40+ years and have had to basically stop jammin' because of wear 'n tear (old age blah-blah), this beautiful concept would be my dream for low impact playing, and holy hell the range of options seems incredible, with a good loop system and multiple tracks, shit, you could drum yourself silly big time :P

Just something that was bugging me:
4:29 something that uses samples is called a sampler.
If it generates sound on its own its a synthesizer.
This, however doesn't generate sound, it amplifies vibration.

iamlukasYT - After watching the Full Compass video, this is definitely a synthesizer. Each sound is made up of 2 additive oscilators with 32 harmonics each, all editable, followed by a multimode filter, different types of noise and single-cycle waveforms(analog/subtractive synthesis stuff). The head is actually a polycarbonate plate, which creates the impulse for the DSP synthesis. BTW, a sampler is a device that allows user sampling into it, not one that merely uses samples.

hi! I love your work and videos. THANK YOU. I have a question. Each sound bank starts with the default instrument, yes? For example A starts with "Harmo Drum," B starts with Wuajon, and so forth - Would it be possible to SAVE a performance situation where one would start from sound bank A, " Spanky," and then switch to sound bank B but instead of "Quajon" get "Taikology"?
That harmo voice will be a game changer in music like the rest of some of the people on here where can we pick one of these up how much are they?

This is basically the exact same concept with the exact same features as the Korg Wavedrum, and doesn't improve upon it in any way. The Wavedrum has the same amount of expression, more interesting sounds, and allows you to create sounds from the ground up. Plus, it's more than three times as cheap.
You could be right, but ATV sent me one so they get to be on my channel! Tell KORG to get with it! ; )
I was thinking along the same lines. A lot of the ATV sounds sound like variations on a resonator, I was hoping to hear some sound modeling not just a glorified resonator.
Actually, the Wavedrum uses samples. This does not.
WD uses mixture of PCM samples AND a variety of synthesis algorithms including physical modeling.

Has anybody seen some thing that allows you to play conga the same way you can play the A-frame drum? I really would like to know because, not being able to play percussion like most people, I am very good at hand drumming and, the conga sounds that you get on keyboards are not that good.
Look into the Korg Wave Drum.
