Video interview with the two vocalists Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola from the American a cappella group Pentatonix. FaceCulture spoke with Avi and Kevin about their self-titled album Pentatonix, playing different instruments, using their voices, beatboxing, Kevin joining the group, being a musician, the group dynamic, working together, challenges, The Sing-Off, covering songs, making their own songs, a cappella fan base, importance of social media, working with songwriters and a lot more! Adam ... If you've never seen "The Vicar of Dibley", a truly hilarious Britcom, you probably can't appreciate that as much as if you have....trust me. ;-) Kind of like until you've sung or played a difficult, complicated piece, like say the Verdi Requiem, you can't really appreciate it to it's true depth. There's a guy in Vicar that answers in that mode EVERY time, over and over and over, and he makes it HILARIOUS EVERY time. ;-) It is truly silly comedy, but if you're a fan of the Faulty Towers or Monte Python type humor, you will love it, I predict. On Netflix, at least it was, and watch three or four shows in if you decide to give it a try, it starts well, but continually ramps up, building the characters and overall "plot". If you end up REALLY liking it, there are many more Britcoms on that platform, "Are you Being Served" is a great second dish. Goofy stuff, like one character that says a couple of times in the series "... and I am unanimous on that".
I actually have seen all of the Vicar of Dibley, albeit a very long time ago, and while I didn't write this comment with that in mind, it is very funny now that you mention it.

I love hearing the passion Avi and Kevin have. It's such a treat to hear them answer so many questions tailored just for them and answer so thoughtfully. We need more of this! Taking nothing away from Scott, Kirstie or Mitch! I just mean they usually get the brunt of the questions so it's nice to hear more from the rhythm and bass! :)

I think these two are very reflective and I liked hearing their thoughts. True musicians.
These two are just too perfect to be real.(and the whole group too!)They are just so talented, humble and devoted to their work. The fact that Kevin studied how to do beatboxing when they started is so amazing. He just always inspires me to learn more and more.
IKR! I watched them on the Sing Off when it originally aired and I never would have guessed that Kevin wasn't always a beatboxer, because the things that he and Avi did were just so amazing. When I go back and rewatch those episodes it's just mind blowing to me that he was basically learning all those tricks as he went along.
Dear Future-Journalism Students: THIS is how you conduct an amazing interview. What fantastic, out-of-the-norm questions, and that produced amazing, interesting, exciting answers from Avi and Kevin. A++ interview all around, and it actually inspired some new thoughts on my approach to music as a drummer :)

This is one of the best interviews I have ever had the pleasure of watching! Too may times on other interviews, the questions are shallow (though, yes, there is a time and place for fun, silly questions, I enjoy those, too), but I appreciate the thought that was put into the questions that were posed of Kevin and Avi. I love to sing along in the car so it's nice to have a tenor level for me to sing to but to make a really good song for me you have to have a good beat and bass. The bass balance is tuned way up and is definitely rocking my car. These men are fantastic and so talented.

Interesting! I really wonder what the specific production details are that Avi was referring to in Can't Sleep Love that we would miss if they were removed, and if they would or would not constitute what some fans would consider "cheating" with regard to it's being truly a capella.
