  • A Redditor lost his wife in a car accident eight years ago, leaving him to raise their two daughters, Maeve and Alex. The wife had written letters to each daughter shortly after their births, intending to give them the letters on their graduation days as a time capsule.
When Maeve graduated from high school, her father gave her the letter as per her mother's wishes. However, Maeve became upset.

    NTA.
OP was following his late wife's instructions. I understand that his daughter would've loved to have it sooner, but it was not meant for earlier. It was important to his wife that these were for graduation day. There are obviously other issues at play because this is not a normal reaction to something like this. The post seems to imply OP's daughter had a rough 8 years. This is why I'd put my post mortem wishes in writing, so that it cannot be disputed on who asked for it.
