The small wheels are called anti scalp wheels and mine adjust by pulling a pin and sliding up and down to the desired height. There’s one hole that is NOT in line with the other height adjusting holes and THAT’S the one to lock the wheels perpendicular to allow the deck to slide out sideways. All mowers a bit different, but that’s how I’m able to do it on mine.
when you reinstall the blades is it important how they are oriented relative to each other? In other words, should they all be at 12 o'clock and six o'clock, or should the center be at 12 and six and the outside blades be at 3 and 9, or ...?
In theory no, they are belt driven pulleys so it’s entirely possible that there will be a little bit of slip…especially if you like to hit things like tree roots and rocks like I seem to do. For my mental state I do align the front one north and south and the two side blades east and west. But they are always in a different orientation when I pull them off again to sharpen so probably not a big deal either way. I don’t think there’s anything in the manual about it either, so go nuts!
You definitely are not an idiot. Thank you for your videos! I like your way better by far. Easy, quick, and fool proof.
Thanks for watching Richard!
How do you switch the direction of the small wheels when removing the deck?
