Houthis respond to plans by US to establish new maritime protection force in the Red Sea

- Houthis in Yemen have released a new statement, after reports the US is planning to establish a new maritime protection force in the Red Sea.
Houthis have been carrying out attacks on commercial ships passing through those waters.
They say they're targeting ships linked to Israel, in protest against military actions in Gaza.
In a statement, a prominent Houthi commander said 'any escalation in Gaza is an escalation in the Red Sea, and any calm in Gaza is considered a calm in the Red Sea.'
He went on to say 'any country or party that comes between us and Palestine, we will confront it'.
Hussain Al Bukhaiti is a political analyst aligned with the Houthi movement.
He says the US getting further involved in the Red Sea could see those waters turned into a battle zone.
The Houthi attacks led to naval crisis on the Red Sea.
Major shipping firms are suspending passage through the Bab al-Mandab strait following a series of attacks by Iran backed Houthi fighters.

While I believe it is dangerous for anyone to escalate the situation in the Red Sea/Middle Eastern area I also believe the Houthis have every right to identify ships in the Red Sea that are heading for Israeli ports, some if not all of these ships could be carrying weapons, munitions and other military supplies. Israel has been and continues to be a threat to the security of the Middle East. If Israel continues to bomb Gaza, Build Settlements on Palestinian soil and threaten Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and other neighbours it is hardly surprising the Hamas, Hizbullah and Houthi fighters are attacking Israeli military bases and shipping.

Defend against what attack? Has Yemen been targeted? They shot at unarmed cargo ships that MAY be heading to Israel because they sympathize with Palestine, which is not part of Yemen. As someone from the region allow me to weigh in on the political aspects of this decision. In general the populations in the area all approve and support Yemen's decision, stating that although it could be crossing some international laws, the actions of Israel have already rendered international law a complete joke and thus this is fair game. When it comes to action against Yemen none of the
countries in the region have room to do so. Egypt and Jordan would immediately result in revolts as the people already heavily disapprove of the government actions, while UAE and Saudi Arabia would lose much of their influence in the region as well as risk having their oil fields targeted, which Yemen has already shown that they can do.
An escalation in the Red Sea by the US would further deteriorate their in the region especially in the eyes of the public, who already blame the US just as much as Israel for the ongoing genocide in Gaza

Yemen has stated full readiness to take on the US naval forces and an escalation to aerial bombings would definitively start a regional war pulling Iran in and forcing the Arab states to take a stance in support of Yemen even against the interest of their leaders or they would risk revolts and coups.
All in all there is only one real solution here and it is to comply with Yemen's demands of letting food, water and medicine into Gaza, which is not a crazy demand since the UN should already have forced aid in, but we all know the US has power over the UN.
Unfortunately I think the US has too large of an ego to comply with Yemen's demands, so we may see a serious escalation soon
