What lacking in Manila is ICONIC tower and efficient mass transpo.
I completely agree, the Philippines has been in need of one for a long time and it's surprising that it hasn't happened yet. But I think it's important to remember that the Philippines does have the Grand Hyatt Manila, the building is 318m tall which is only a meter shy of the Chrysler building. That being said I really hope a 400m+ building comes around soon

I also remember reading that the Grand Hyatt Manila was supposed to be much taller but it's hight was reduced due to reasons I don't remember. That being said I agree, there have been so many attempts to build something truly Iconic but sadly none of them came true, but I'm still hopeful for the future.

Transport systems are coming like manila mega subway is now underconstruction and many railways are under construction. Our giant skyway stage 3 is already open. 10 years from now the Philippines will already surpassed thailand.

Our metro manila subway is underconstruction aswell as makati subway , our MRT and LRT also has expansion ,also underconstruction, our bus rapid transit will be upgraded, there is also our skyway stages 123 will open now. Just wait and see neighboors❤❤❤😘😘

Bangkok has great mass transit while Manila has amazing CBDs.

Wow! Hello, I love both the two countries because we are siblings in ASEAN. But I must tell you, I was amazed by the green green grass and trees that Manila has. The Infrastructure of Manila has somehow diverse from Spanish, American, and European. For the last 6 years, the Philippines has developed massive buildings of many new Airports, Bridges, Land Transportation, and railways which will be efficient in the near future. Both areas are quite attractive with problems of their own. Bangkok is highly developed with a boost in tourism, entertainment and nightlife parties. Whilst Manila is highly centered on international business and entrepreneurship. It is in Manila that you will find some of the biggest malls in the world. though it is more congested compared to that of Bangkok, development is moving fast there coz' there's one thing that the Filipinos have that Thai's don't. Every Filipino understands and knows how to speak in English, there are no language barriers. And we can't deny it, English is the language of the world. if a person wants to build a business, he's gonna' do it in a place where he understands how his people speak and the other way around as well. But still,,, both cities are quite beautiful and historical, very nice places to go to.

Now we're not really talking about public development here are we, we're talking about the fact of you saying that ENGLISH IS NOT IMPORTANT. Maybe for you, but for people like us who work with foreigners face2face on a daily basis it is VERY important. English is the language being used in our country to communicate to the world. Why? This reflects the Manila influence as a commercial and financial center in Southeast Asia. However, one thing that I like about Bangkok is its unique culture. There are more interesting things to see in the city that you can’t find in other parts of the world. This reflects Bangkok’s influence as a tourism city in Southeast Asia. I am Taiwanese, I have visited both countries. I think Thailand has developed a long way. The Thai mass transit system is very good, the food is delicious, the city is clean like a developed country. Metro manila has a lot of beautiful cbds than bangkok.but when it comes to mass transportation we will get there ,3 to 4 years from now we can have two fully underground subways which is second to Singapore that has full underground subway .this year we will start another expressway and monorail mrt4 .

Move five more years...Metro Manila will have 2 Grand Central Station and 2 Subway lines, plus MRT7 and MRT4 including the extension of LRT2 and LRT!. Added to that the PNR lines and the monorail that connects Makati and BGC. Also the link to North and South Expressways...BUILD BUILD BUILD is going on...

Bangkok's skyline is breathtaking, but Manila's skyscrapers being spread out across greenery makes it look more organized. I see people making comments pitting them against each other and I find it baffling because both Thailand and Philippines are still developing. It's even projected that the Philippines will become among the top 10-15 largest economies in the world. There's no need to make negative comparisons between these two Southeast Asian giants.

Manila’s skyline might be more defined and structured but Bangkok’s skyline is real massive! There’s a sea of skyscraper when I was traversing from the airport when I visited and it was never ending.
Both cities looks quite the same on street level but Bangkok is a lot cleaner and has better infrastructure.
How do you know have you been in manila???? Western media is projecting manila as a big slum and dirty! As if other asean countries don't have slums! I've seen slum areas in bangkok it's very dirty! Dirtier than the slum in manila!!!!!!
Of course Manila rarely built tall towers because the Philippines is prone to earthquakes and typhoons due to being the most prone area in the pacific ring of fire. Building tall infrastructure will cause more maintenance and reparations so they tend to avoid that.
