It is very interesting for me to see how you are harvesting and threshing rice without big machines.
This reminds me of my youth on my grandparents' farm, where things were handled almost exactly the same way.
Only we mostly had rye, oats, barley and wheat in the fields.
Everything was mown and tied together by hand. Then we drove to the threshing machine in a horse-drawn cart.
As you can see, there is almost no difference. Back then the fields were smaller and all the neighbors always helped.

The interesting aspect of this video to me was the fact that from what I saw Phurong (sorry my computer does not add the dashes/slashers to her name but no disrespect intended} as I was saying the lass was the only one of her generation assisting in the rice field harvesting the villages staple rice crop. Where were the girls of her generation assisting in the villages major task for the year. But then I remembered 60 years ago when I was involved in the harvesting of Grapes, apple's, plums peaches etc I was also the only member of my generation there, the rest were older. My worry is that in 30 years or so Who will harvest the village staples ?

Hiện tại ngoài đó bây giờ ngoài đó còn cắt lúa gánh về theo lối thủ công Gánh lúa ( P Duy) hình ảnh quá đẹp. Cắt bó mớ nhỏ, giống lúa gì mà cao cây quá.Con ở phía trong này ( xưa nay ko còn nữa) khi cắt bỏ thành từng mớ lớn phơi 1_2 nắng rồi có người gom bó lại bó lớn trên 40 lít và vác lại cho máy suốt. Mến chào!

Rice harvesting is some serious physical work, not to mention the heat and all of the bugs that bite.
I could see how strong you really are because the men were having a tough time too :).
I really miss sweating like that, so much that my clothes are soaking wet.
It is so healthy and the body gets cleansed inside and out :).
This really inspires me :).
A Vietnamese/American lawyer told me that Vietnam is putting forth a new land law that will allow foreigners own/buy land.
I can already buy an apartment pretty cheap in Da Nang but I don't want to live like a tourist.
If this law passes I will build a music studio there on the countryside and live like you :).
I do have a couple of questions for you, do you ever get soar after heavy work/lifting?
What do you do to fix it and how long does it take?
