Great reaction. Like you, i picked the progression up immediately. I feel like the dact it was so simple lended itself to be super catchy. I love it personally. Check out "Georgia Satellites - keep your hands to yourself"
Listen to some of his other stuff. Very much coming up. And yeah like you said I can't speak for him, but he made it to be catchy and didn't realize it would turn into a sensation.
I grew up on OLD american country. Nitty gritty dirt band, Alabama, even saw Diamond Rio in concert. This guy has the heart and soul of any of the best. He knows himself, he isn't motivated by anything other than channelling what's inside of him and his unique experience. His sound and personality is NEW. He isn't Beyonce trying to pretend, he isn't "Big n rich" having a laugh. He isn't Lil Nas X. Its an eclectic but beautiful new sound born from the understanding of the storytelling and heart of country. I think you reduced it just a "little" bit to a scholarly, "yea well, easy chords, its anthemic, did what it wanted to do." I respect your talent with the guitar (way better than me and my Dobro resonator), but don't ever discount the ability to hit the soul tones that so many people NEED hit when nobody has hit those notes yet. This song is playing in every bar (country or not) and connecting people. And while popularity doesn't guarantee "good," fair, but when i can't watch a single human being listen to this without moving and smiling regardless of background (even you in this video.) That's worth more than some formulaic explainable snippet. Jolene by Dolly isn't the most earth shattering song lyrically or architecturally, but her soul erupted through every word to a level we hadn't felt before and that's what made it timeless and that's a PIECE of what we are seeing here. You're a talent, i just wanted to bring you to a moment away from content and just smiling and moving and nothing else. Good country is about feeling and only feeling. It's ok if we disagree on this but i do know we need that simplicity sometimes.
Love the message. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I cannot remember exactly what I said about the song. But I do really enjoy it. It's super fun and like you say, every time I hear it, I feel good. Thanks for subbing and hope to hear from you again 😁🤘
It doesnt go to the D major. You played it right at the beginning of the song. th-cam.com/video/YI3hRMymbRk/w-d-xo.html Except you gotta play the G with with your pinky on the bottom e at the 5th fret and the index on the 2nd string at the 4th fret. You got this. Basically you play all the chords with that same configuration.
I love all types of music, but was raised on country.....and he is really awesome. Great voice, great lyrics.
He really is!
That intro was pretty awesome. Definitely a good time.
He references J-Kwon's 2004 single "Tipsy"

Check out his song Vegas. It's a great song and a more straightforward Country.
I'll get on it!
