The answer is both. Actually glad to see him use the legs this week. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen that Russ. If he can dial back the INT’s you guys gotta chance.
When the Steeler WR aren't getting separation a QB is forced to try and squeeze the throw in, throw it away or take the sack. There's multiple coverage and no one is open because the WR doesn't know how to get separation. I see other teams including our opponents that get their WR open all the time, and I mean wide open many times. When was the last time you saw a Steeler WR wide open?
Coming from a Pittsburgh fan, the Steelers have ALWAYS been torched by decent tight ends. This is scapegoating. The team beat on subpar opponents this year (minus a win against the Ravens). They're just not as good as the talking heads act like they are, and we're seeing it now.
I think people are taking what Heyward said wrong, I don’t think he means the same guy is always the problem. The media seems to like to turn everything these guys do and say into something it’s not. Watching the last few games there’s plenty of different guys making mistakes so his comment likely means in general they’re all making mistakes , one play it’s queen, the next play it’s Jackson and on down the line. Just look what the media is saying about Pickens showing good sportsmanship towards Mahomea and Kelce, they’ve turned him shaking their hands into he did it to subliminally tell them to come get him away from Pittsburgh, it’s ridiculous.

Their "issue on defense" and in general is that the last three weeks is that they actually played three serious playoff teams for the first time all year (outside of Baltimore snowstorm game). Pitt is not a serious playoff contender. They never were. Usually only 2-3 teams are actual Super Bowl contenders in each conference. Pitt is not one of those teams in the AFC.
And even then, Baltimore lost by 2 and missed EASY points. Baltimore more lost that game than Pittsburgh won it and they proved that point last Saturday
They held a 5-0 record against winning teams other than these 3. To go 3 games in such a short time played a major role, not to mention the injuries, but to just give up is a whole different story

He brought a spark to the Steelers but the good team figured out and take this strength away - Smith has no answers. And Magic Mike can't create a passing defense. Same old Steelers. I'm so sick of all this over the last ten years. Playoffs? One and done.

It's not one specific player all the time, its a different person every play. Well a hand full of different players rotating who messes up their assignment on different plays.
Pickens with his demeanor on the field. He gets upset like a child when he doesn't get the ball. Sure he's a good WR but he never gives 100% to a block or to a route to run unless it's a route meant for him. Gotta give it your all Pickens
This is usually what happens when you play teams better than you. Are there really people out there who thought they were winning g any of these 3 games?
I thought it was GEORGE PICKENS every week he gives no effort unless he had a shot at a highlight. Look at Russ' pick. George decided not to run his route as usual and left Reid to make a play on the ball outside of his zone
It’s Cam “burnt toast and beat my woman” Sutton. The last TD to Kelce he literally just stood there as arguably the best TE in NFL history ran right by him and into the endzone for a wide open TD. With the exception of Elliot the safeties have been lost for the last two seasons. They simply cannot cover the tight end position or any routes over the middle of the field.Andy Reed was on point with mostly quick ,short passes in the middle of the field. Same thing Brady and Gronk did to them years ago and they simply have never figured it out. Receivers are running wide open in the secondary and to add to it their tackling has been horrible. I know Minkah Fitzpatrick is always touted as an all pro...just watch him and see what or who you think is the problem in the secondary!
And likely one and done. You must have rose colored glasses on to not see the same issues once again rearing their head: Lack of discipline, mental mistakes, terrible clock management, players acting up and not being held accountable and conservative play callign on both sides of the ball putting the team in deep holes against the upper echelon teams and the proverbial loss to a team we should beat.
Honestly I was very frustrated with the effort pi Ken's was putting in. He had allot of half reps not going full speed especially on that russel wikson pi k. And it was unfourtunate to see 2 of his big catches called back by penalties
Pitt has played the 3 best teams in the league in less than 2 weeks. What I saw against the Chiefs was an exhausted D because the O sucks and can’t stay on the field. The losses are on the O; not the D.
The simple fact is that this schedule was skewed to face the hardest teams with the smallest time frame near the end. If these losses were spread out throughout the season, people would probably be way less concerned
They got molly whooped though. Like if they lost back and forth games no big deal but they look bad. But like Pat said at the end maybe it's a wake up call

I am a longtime Chiefs fan and I have always had a healthy amount of respect for Steelers football. Since the beginning of the year, I thought that this Christmas game might be the toughest game for the Chiefs in the regular season. One thing that all of Pittsburgh needs to understand, though, is that the Chiefs have had an improbable and unusual amount of season ending and long-term injuries this year starting from the very first play of the preseason. I'm not including the weekly injuries that appear on the Injury Report that happen to every team to some degree. I am saying that the management has had to rebuild the roster on-the-fly by picking up retirees and unemployed free agents off of the streets or by seeking trades for anything from veteran receivers to 4th string Tight Ends or just warm bodies for depth on the Defensive Line. I've never seen anything like it. The Chiefs are just starting to get a few guys back that were injured very early in the season. Most guys won't return until next season. My point is that almost everybody in the media and all but the most observant fans thought that the Chiefs have just been getting lucky all year long and that they did not have a very good team. In truth, they have been scratching and clawing to get wins this year having to continually fill vacant positions as best as they could. Now, that they are beginning to get some of the guys back, the Chiefs are a much better team than anyone had given them credit. It seems like alot of folks have underestimated what the Chiefs are capable of. There is no shame in losing to the best team in football, the Back-2-Back Champions. What is shameful is that with 6 minutes left to go in the game and down 3 scores the Steelers quit. On 4th down, instead of trying to pick up the 1st down they punted. They quit! I don't know if that was Tomlin's decision or what, but that was shameful. Steelers fans have every right to be outraged by this.
Tomlin wasted Ben Rothlisberger's career. He should've won 3 SB' with Ben and those rosters he had. I would've fired him a decade ago. He's blaque, so he gets to be mediocre. If you question Tomlin yuuuu rayyycisss!!!
The Steelers aren't like that under Tomlin... Except Diontae, Brown, Bell, LaGarrett, an LB who forced his release to sign with NE, and 10 other players over the past decade. Tomlin has no coaching tree, no playoff wins in 7 years, and no SB appearances without inherited coaches and players. Yet he has the national media always hypnotized. The players love him, for sure... But why? It ain't success. Belichick had players that hate him, but they wear rings.
@@vernonbigham4760 what does it get you not having a losing a season if you don’t win one playoff game in the past seven years??? Belichick had three bad seasons and Kraft fired him and the guy has six rings.
It was more than a wake-up call, they need a whole new game-plan for the playoffs. Fields needs to be ready to go in and stay in if we don't start the game with scoring drives. Field Goals will also not be good enough to win playoff games if our defense decides they suck now.

I was at the game. Saw the Jumbotron go to the skycam and just shook my head. Can’t believe they played it. Renegade used to mean something. Now it’s just a part of the clown show.
The song is dog crap anyway...they should have played the Beatles song 'I'm A Loser'.
Styx was always trash. Its fine, but you're right, they over use it. How about NOT needing your defense to bail you out.
RUSS NEEDS TO STOP THROWING INTO MULTIPLE COVERAGE AND HOLDING THE BALL TOO LONG.
Thanks captain
Nonsense.
If Pickens ran his route, the safety wouldn't have been there and Pat could've caught the ball.
Seahawks fan here. Russ is notorious for holding the ball long. That was the debate for years with his sack numbers. Was it line play or Russ holding the ball to long trying to make plays.
The only way this statement applies is if the “One Guy” is the defensive coordinator, because that WHOLE DEFENSE looks like crap!
Who is the guy then?
11 players can be on the field cam said 10 outta 11 are doing their job, it’s not a coach 😂
@@Rainn404 Actually it is the coach. Teryl Austin has been garbage since day 1. Why tf we playing zone on 3rd and 1?

2:40 It's Cam Sutton. That is the "one guy."

Even if they took Sutton out of the game, not a thing would have changed. The only change that needs to be made is at HC, OC, and DC.
Gunna need more than a wake-up call to fix a 7 year drought
Steelers coaches are getting out-coached. In every one of the last 3 games, the Steelers have been still in the game at half-time. 17-13 vs the Eagles, 17-10 vs the Ravens, and 13-7 vs the Chiefs. In the last 3 games, the Steelers have scored a combined 10 points in the second half (zero points in the 2nd half vs Eagles, 7 points in the 2nd half vs Ravens, and 3 points in the 2nd half vs the Chiefs). The other team is figuring out what the Steelers are doing, making adjustments at half-time and the Steelers coaches aren't countering with anything.
The 'one guy not doing his job' is a general statement, not directed at the same guy on every play. Yes, at this level, EVERY guy must do his job on every play. There's no margin for error when you're playing against the GOAT, Patrick Mahomes.
He's good but I think any decent NFL QB would do well in that system.
@@paulm5871Hey casual. Andy Reid's System at KC playoff record pre-Mahomes: 1-4. Andy Reid's System at KC with Mahomes: 15-3.
Yeah the goat yeah right 😂
Steelers are a very good Regular Season team.
Let’s see bud. Monday morning qb
Yup… you get it! Steelers are a fraud, and so is Wilson.
@@danielvaladez3210 Yup. Plus, Pitt was very lucky to win some games earlier in the season that they should have lost. I know sometimes you need good luck through the season to win and advance but they really won a lot of ugly games and were fortunate.
There was a lot of miscommunication in the back end and you could see them getting frustrated with one another also 💯
Defensive scheme does has issues. Check out our last 5 playoff games especially at home. A lot of points to hang on a defense that everyone says is “great” every year. If the front 4 can’t get to the qb the zone is always exposed to a good qb and coach. Need guys who can play man.
At this rate, the Chargers will jump the Steelers in seeding.
Could actually happen. Chargers have what should be an easy last two games
Time to hire a legit DC.
Tomlin needs to be fired. This team cannot win a playoff game as long as Tomlin is the HC.

I'm done for this year. We will never win something relevant with Tomlin and his staff. Arthur Smith is Matt Canada with some tight end plays. Now and then he wake up and call a couple of good ones - then back to his broken scripts. Last game I turned of the tv when we're 3 scores down with 6 minutes on the clock and he called a run.... Short and Mid passing game doesn't exist. Only runs, more runs and deep bombs. Russ has no time? Let's call a 30 yarder!
He brought a spark to the Steelers but the good team figured out and take this strength away - Smith has no answers. And Magic Mike can't create a passing defense. Same old Steelers. I'm so sick of all this over the last ten years. Playoffs? One and done.
Year after year it seems like Tomlin can’t control his player’s ego’s
Dumb comment

The wake up call should have been after the Eagles game. They have laid 3 successively bigger eggs in a row. A great team would have come out against the yardbirds and put the hammer down. They have done anything but...

I hate to admit it cause I like Tomlin..but when we play a good team we are usually out schemed!!

Highest paid defense in the NFL and they can't stop a cold. This is absolutely ridiculous. IDC who the player is. As long as said player knows who he is. And if one guy isn't doing his job get rid of him. You have practice squad guys for a fuckin reason.
It’s Queen, I guarantee this was their reaction to him having the gall to say something about others previously
Minkah has great plays but when he messes up it messes up EVERYTHING
I'm with you on this
Yes sir. All year I’ve been thinking the same thing
George plays offense not defense
Elliott has been a stud all year. Rest of the safeties are trash
Theyre 10-6. ...people are dramatic

Pitt has played the 3 best teams in the league in less than 2 weeks. What I saw against the Chiefs was an exhausted D because the O sucks and can’t stay on the field. The losses are on the O; not the D.
Russell has sucked too. That throw into triple coverage was malpractice
We're forever in purgatory.
Queen missed the assignment every time
The Texans had 2 points you’ll be fine
The simple fact is that this schedule was skewed to face the hardest teams with the smallest time frame near the end. If these losses were spread out throughout the season, people would probably be way less concerned
