    You need to measure the signal voltage on the Dolby IC reference pins (13 and 18) when playing a Dolby reference level calibration tape to check for correct playback level. If you don't, you're relying on the deck's meters being accurately calibrated which may not be the case. This can lead to serious Dolby NR mistracking issues even though the meter levels may appear to be correct. The RS-BX707 is meant to be calibrated to 0dB at the output for a 250nWb/m at 315Hz recording. If this coincides with 0dB on the meters then you know that the meters are correct.

      You qre right. I have got the test tapes coming. Not sure if the 315hz tape will be within speck, but there is q thread on tapehead where they calculated the voltage for the 400hz tape i am getting aswell.
      A normal cheapo voltmeter should be enough to meassure, shouldn't it?
