Disappointed that you didn't mention HUMBLE PIE. Lead singer/guitarist Steve Marriott was considered on of the greatest voices in rock and was a huge influence on others who followed, From 1969-1974 they produced 8 studio and two live albums and filled arenas around the country with their kicka** sound of rock/soul/boogie and blues topped off with Marriotts amazing voice and charisma. Yet way too often when I mention their name, the response I often get is "Who"?.
HUMBLE PIE is also fantastic! Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll look into them, and who knows, they might just appear in our upcoming videos. Stay tuned!

Certainly a bizarre, misleading title for this video! Anyone remotely interested in classic pop or rock will know or love most of these bands. Some of them are hugely important and influential in rock history, like Fleetwood Mac, Joy Division, the Sex Pistols, Skynyrd... I was hoping this would point me to some obscure gems I'd missed.
I see what you mean! The title can be misleading since many of these bands are quite famous. It would be great to uncover some hidden gems instead. What lesser-known favorites do you have?
@@WhoremembersusaIt would actually also be really great to do a documentary/special on power pop of the 1970s (aka super melodic hard rock)... My Mom and Dad took Me to a Carpenters concert at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey when I was 11 years old. I don't remember very much about it, but I do remember that the songs "We've Only Just Begun" and "Rainy Days and Mondays"got more attention than the rest of the songs they sang.
Great video and definitely agree some of these groups have been forgotten...some I never heard of actually...but Fleetwood Mac??? Their status is iconic. To a lesser degree, the same is true of the Carpentaers and Guess Who. All of the groups I mentioned charted big multiple times.. So I am not clear on why they are on this list.
Absolutely, Cream's impact on rock is undeniable. Their sound and musicianship set a high bar, and they definitely left an unforgettable legacy. RIP Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker-they'll always be remembered for shaping rock history.
None of these bands are forgotten, they are all classic rockers. Most are legends. Badfinger is especially special to me, I'm a huge Beatles fan and I found their story and music for many sad days , it was a comfort. The Carpenters are my favorite and Sweet, I own every album of them.
You're absolutely right! These bands are classics, with music that continues to resonate deeply with so many. Sounds like you've got a fantastic collection! 🎶

The sixties and seventies produced so many great group, with different sounds it was hard to pick a favorite. As far as FLEETWOOD MAC and SKYNARD being forgotten you have to be joking.

I'll bet that Robert Fripp will be surprised to hear that King Crimson disbanded in 1974 since he announced their retirement at a gig in 2021. As has even mentioned in other posts there are several other groups in this list that haven't been forgotten in fact possibly the only ones which have been forgotten are those who were only known in the US like Big Star, Montrose and Television.
Badfinger was an incredible band. Their first album hit big and Pete Ham , lead vocals , guitar and songwriter thought he had cash coming in so he bought a house for his wife new baby and himself. Their Crook of a manager stole the bands money and when Pete couldn't make the payments on his family's new home he hung himself. Badfinger died when Pete Ham died.

Why do these channels always include some of the most famous acts from the past in their lists of forgotten artists?. The Carpenters, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Fleetwood Mac have certainly not been forgotten. People who like rock music haven't forgotten King Crimson who regularly appear in polls for the best prog rock bands of all time, usually in the top five. None of the bands on the list have been forgotten by the people who were around at the time, though granted some of the British bands might not have been so popular in the States as they were here in the UK, and requarly appear on radio stations that deal with the various musical genres from that era.

You're probably not a hard rock fan then. As they never had any hit singles it tends to only be seventies rock fans that have heard of them and then mostly from the UK. I saw them a few times, great band live but there were already other more famous bands like Led Zeppelin around doing similar stuff so they never quite made it big time.
I miss the mention of great forgotten bands like The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, The Who, ABBA, CCR. Too bad no one remembers these bands today.

AI metions the Carpenters Song, "Close To You" also as "(They Long To Be) Close To You" on the very next sentence and treats them as if they are seperate songs LMFAO! Besides the song was written by BUrt Bacharach and Hal David and was first recorded by Richard Chamberlain and released as a single in 1963 as "They Long to Be Close to You" (without parentheses). However, while the single's other side, "Blue Guitar", became a hit, "They Long to Be Close to You" did not. So the Carpenters was a cover.
You almost had me, with this professional-sounding AI voice. Until. The mispronunciation of 'lead singer'. I'm one of those pedantic freaks who just can't get over grammatical errors in a supposedly informed reading. *sigh* Another one bites the dust.
@@flipfluitkeutel8607 OK - I'll admit I didn't need to add the snark, but it's not too much to ask, for a content producer to review their narration before posting.
What a load of rubbish. Some AI algorithm bot talking mis-pronounced bollocks. Fleetwood Mac, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Carpenters, Derek and the Dominoes. The Jam, The Sex Pistols. Forgotten? Give me a break!
Yes especially Badfinger. They made millions from their records (they did two US tours that I recall and all were sellouts) and yet their pockets were empty. Their manager and later Warner Bros Records who had them after Apple went defunct, stole all their money. The music is beautiful but the business side of it is ruthless and cut throat.
@@Whoremembersusa With all that money around, temptation is often too great. probably the one that flabbergasted me the most was when it was revealed that the Bee Gees manager whom they made him millions, later cheated the group (I think it was on royalties) Such a thank you, hm???
You could have done a lot better job trying to match the title of this clip. The Runaways is interesting and influential due to the presence of Joan Jett, and Lita Ford. They are certainly NOT forgotten. Neither is King Crimson. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is revered as great as opposed to the their pop version. The Green Manalishi, and Oh Well are very influential and covered. And I particularly love Station Man. Not only did you spell Lynyrd Skynyrd incorrectly it's also pronounced incorrectly. Many of us from the 50s still play Free Bird, That Smell, and others which are rock anthems. Derek and the Dominos is a painful reminder that Cream disbanded due to Claptop saying they were getting too commercial, then his Derek and the Dominos created near pop music in a betrayal of his own (reportedly) words. Bad Motor Scooter is a very good song from Montrose. Bands are often less than successful due to the producers that make their recordings. If a new group doesn't "pay their dues" they often never getr the high production values needed to succeed. Otherwise I agree that the rest of you list seem to be insignificant.
Thanks for your insights! You're right-The Runaways, King Crimson, and Fleetwood Mac certainly deserve recognition for their influence and legacy. It's interesting how perceptions of bands change over time, especially regarding their sound and success. And you're spot on about production values playing a crucial role in a band's success. Thank you

Badfinger was destroyed by their greedy manager who got away with it scot free and lived to an old age. Some of these other groups had little success in the USA. Other groups (Fleetwood Mac, The Guess Who, The Sweet, the Carpenters) aren't forgotten to any stretch of the imagination. Wild Cherry and M were one hit wonders.
Absolutely! Robert Fripp's innovative guitar work has greatly influenced progressive rock and ambient music, pushing creative boundaries with his collaborations and projects
That's a poignant observation. Many artists create from their experiences in a challenging world, and it can be tough for their voices to be heard amidst the noise
Comparing Bad Finger with The Beatles was pure marketing. That is as ridiculous as comparing Icehouse's fine song Hey little girl with Roxy Music. Yes there is a very slight hint of and all that... But BF's compositions didn't even come close to the knees of the Beatles. And I don't give a toss if the Beatles themselves pretended that BF sounded like them. I've gone through their records, listened to every song. There is some good stuff out there, but nothing really outstanding, nothing with the 'it" quality of evergreens. Decent pop, interesting to know, not worthless, not spectacular, not progressive not reactionairy. Their downfall is sad, but that's not a reason to put them all of a sudden on a pedestal
It’s great that you’ve explored their catalog, and it’s clear you appreciate their contributions without placing them on a pedestal. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for your feedback! It's true that many of these bands still hold a significant place in music history. We will pay more attention to this issue.
Right? Sweet was a major player in glam rock with hits like "Ballroom Blitz" and "Fox on the Run." They definitely left a lasting impact and are remembered by many fans
Wow, what clickbaity junk. Dropped off the radar? You mean still in print and being actively promoted by labels even today? Right. I like how you've posted several comments with almost exactly the same wording from various other accounts. This is trash, folks.
With 2 out of the top 3 rock songs of ALL TIME from "forgotten" bands, just throw Led Zeppelin on the list too for the trifecta, geeze. Now I'm scared to look at their 60's "forgotten" band list, will the Who be on there? the Stones? maybe even the Beatles?

Badfinger's most well-known song is likely "Without You," popularized by Nilsson and Mariah Carey. The band's story is compelling enough for its own video, filled with struggles like unpaid earnings and royalty disputes.

What a crock of s**t.. These are not forgotten bands.. I think you needed a wider exposure to great bands.
Badfinger, The Runaways, Budgie, Wild Cherry, The Carpenters, The Guess Who, Fleetwood Mac, Montrose, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Sweet, Sha Na Na, The Jam and The Sex Pistols are all on my music play list..
I hear you! Those bands have definitely made a significant mark and are far from forgotten. It’s all about personal taste, and many of us have our favorites that should never be overlooked. Great list!
The Tarney/Spencer Band created 3 great albums but, apparently, are forgotten.
"You're right! The Tarney/Spencer Band had some fantastic music that deserves more recognition. Their blend of rock and pop was really ahead of its time. Thanks for highlighting their contributions!"

@@GTVAlfaMan You're welcome!
Derek and the Dominoes? are you serious. Only one Album, but the best album of the 70s.
Derek and the Dominoes certainly left a lasting impact with their iconic album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs! Its influence and timeless tracks make it a standout of the '70s, despite the band's brief existence.
@@Whoremembersusa Most of it was written in the time between the 60s and the 70s it could be argued that it is music of the 60s. (a much better decade for mustc)

How on Earth are Joy Division forgotten ? They're one of the most influential bands in musical history
I keep reading that.
You’re absolutely right! Joy Division is hugely influential and remains a cornerstone in music history. Their sound and impact are still felt today, especially in post-punk and alternative music
I love Leonard Sky Nerd. Sucks he’s been forgotten…
They may not be as in the spotlight today, but their classic hits like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird" definitely left a lasting impact on rock music. It's always fun to celebrate these iconic bands!
@@Whoremembersusa Thanks, Whore Members USA.
Yes, Lenny was great wasn't he? 😊
Eclectic list, but Fleetwood Mac forgotten. I think not. And Leaner Ski-ner. C’mon! Watched for thumbnail of the Sweet, and they definitely the title of this video
You're right! Fleetwood Mac and Lynyrd Skynyrd are definitely not forgotten-they have left a lasting legacy in rock music. The Sweet also deserves recognition for their impact. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Rob and Wild Cherry play at Disneyland Florida 6 nights a week.
Thanks for the heads-up :)
Thank you for watching the video and sharing your thoughts! We just wanted to evoke a little nostalgia about the past, and we know that for many fans, these bands are timeless and continue to be celebrated across generations and regions. Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds were popular in the 70's. They had several popular songs.
Thank you for sharing!
Let me tell you how influential Budgie was, I've never heard of them..
I’d be more than happy to listen! Please keep sharing as much as you’d like! Thanks You.

Ian Gillan was with Sweet at one time? I have never heard that before and can't find any information on it.
It’s easy to mix up bands and their members, especially with so many iconic names in rock history. Thanks for bringing it up!
No problem, sometimes you can be surprised who was former members of bands though.
I think they got Ian Gillan wrong. He was with Black Sabbath not The Sweet/Sweet.
I miss the mention of great forgotten bands like The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, The Who, ABBA, CCR. Too bad no one remembers these bands today.
The Eagles that’s top 40 garbage

AI metions the Carpenters Song, "Close To You" also as "(They Long To Be) Close To You" on the very next sentence and treats them as if they are seperate songs LMFAO! Besides the song was written by BUrt Bacharach and Hal David and was first recorded by Richard Chamberlain and released as a single in 1963 as "They Long to Be Close to You" (without parentheses). However, while the single's other side, "Blue Guitar", became a hit, "They Long to Be Close to You" did not. So the Carpenters was a cover.
Thank you for your feedback! We’ll strive to provide the best content possible. Also, thank you for sharing a bit about music history!

Their music has had a lasting impact and continues to resonate today. Thanks for sharing your strong opinions!
Didn’t all of the old record clmpanies screw over the bands that built them?😢
Yes especially Badfinger. They made millions from their records (they did two US tours that I recall and all were sellouts) and yet their pockets were empty. Their manager and later Warner Bros Records who had them after Apple went defunct, stole all their money. The music is beautiful but the business side of it is ruthless and cut throat.
"Sadly, yes-that happened a lot. Many iconic bands dealt with unfair contracts despite their huge success. Thanks for highlighting this!"
Thank you
Also, except for Ford, the Runaways were all lesbians. Lita Ford was not comfortable with that dynamic.
Why isn't this list Doja Cat/Megan Thee Stallion/Kanye West/MILEY SHITFACE/Billie Eilish/topped by Ed Sheeran???

Badfinger was destroyed by their greedy manager who got away with it scot free and lived to an old age. Some of these other groups had little success in the USA. Other groups (Fleetwood Mac, The Guess Who, The Sweet, the Carpenters) aren't forgotten to any stretch of the imagination. Wild Cherry and M were one hit wonders.

Sadly a lot of these bans have fallen off the radar.
So many artist aren’t born with the filter most people have. They are born into an ugly world.
