Delores was going to record on this with Bad Wolves, but she died the night before she could do it.
What gets me as much as the story of the song and what happened to Dolores is how they updated the lyrics from "1916" to "2018" and "guns" to "drones".

I see it as like the difference between The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel and that by Disturbed. The first was the plea to hear the message; the second is the anger the first message was ignored.
@@JeshuaSquirrel other then their talent it probably had a lot to do with how much involvement delores had with this version, its just a pity she died the day before she had a chance to record with them, but these guys def did an amazing job

When Tommy left bad wolves he revealed that the rest of the band wasn't even there to record the song with him but they got the credit. He recorded the official version of this song with unnamed musicians that will never get recognition.
They were there, this guy is a new level of delusional. Bad Wolves are still touring and releasing new music. When he left, he left the tracks he recorded with them, with them. Yes he was the vocalist, but he was not the writer. So he signed everything over to them and parted ways. Three weeks later he was performing and sang two Bad Wolves songs. The record label now has a lawsuit out against him. Since then, he has continued to perform THEIR MUSIC- why? Because he can’t write his own. He was arrested by the police, and the story he told didn’t add up. Yesterday the police report which had 2 witnesses on it was released, his version isn’t even close to what occurred. He goes into these long, live rants on Instagram- and truly they end up being about nothing and he gets nowhere. So, were his EXTREMELY TALENTED band members in the studio the day that they were expecting to collaborate with the ORIGINAL ARTIST- yeah, they were. This guy is just plain trash, which sucks because he has talent.

This is one of those iconic songs that I'm not sure I wanted to hear anybody cover, especially now that the original singer has passed away (rest in peace). That said, since you tagged it as one of the best covers you've seen, and I trust your musical opinion and integrity, I gave this cover a chance. I'm glad I did. Of course it's not going to be the same as the original - covers never are; but they did The Cranberries proud. It's a fantastic cover with a different kind of haunting vocal, that same train-like, unmistakable driving beat of the bass, and a great band rounding out the rest of the instruments. Thanks for posting this, Cliff. Just like you're adding to your musical lexicon, I love it when you add to mine, too. :) You're the best.

yeah, one of my favorite covers too. i like different approaches to songs. if you just repeat the original it's just a waste of time.
some songs are just eternal masterpieces and you can only hope to be worthy.

you should listen to more of the Bad Wolves albums especially the ones with Tommy Vext at the vocal position... I may not agree with him politically but the man has some vocal prowess and I love everything I've heard. I recommend you and @CliffBeatsOfficial should listen to the song Remember When... it tells the tragic story of Tommy's brother literally killing him. (he clinically died after the beating for a short time but was resuscitated).

Thank you for reacting to both of these versions, they are both gripping, haunting, and sad. Please check out some Tommy Vex. He was the lead singer of Bad Wolves on this and they had some amazing songs together, but he is no longer with Bad Wolves, but I think you'll like Tommy's stuff. One of my favorites he did with Bad Wolves was "Remember When", which was a true story of Tommy and his identical twin brother, who killed Tommy. He was thankfully saved and his brother is still in prison.

My grand daughter is almost 6 years old and at the age of 4 this became her favorite song and she would sing it out loud and I have many videos of her. She sang it with such heart and soul and you could see her put all her heart and energy into it.
The thing is her innocent mind is thinking this song is really about zombies, not war. Keep our children innocent because they don’t deserve this🥺.
One day she will know what this song really means and what it stands for, unfortunately 😢.
It always takes amazing art to put a mirror up to the horrors wrought by war. This is from a TV show, not a song, but Zombie always reminds me of this quote from The Doctor: "It's always the same. When you fire the first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken? How many lives shattered? How much blood will spill before everybody does what they were _always_ going to have to do from the very beginning: Sit down and _talk_"

This video makes my hair stand on end every time. I love that the actress in gold represents Delores' spirit and the glass represents the barrier between the living and the departed. I agree that it's not as good as the original, because it's so difficult to improve on the original when Delores O'Riorodan did it so well originally that every cover will be rightfully judged by it, but it comes damn close.
I know there are people who don't like the change "With their tanks and their bombs and their bombs and their drones". That's a fair assessment, but if that's their only criticism, then I'll see it as nitpicking. I'll agree with people most of the time about covers not being as good as the original, but there are exceptions.
Bad Wolves weren't trying to out do or one-up The Cranberries, they were trying to pay respect while releasing something that was entirely their own style.

a wonderful tribute to a woman who dedicated her later years to advocating for and raising funds for all children in war zones in our troubled world.....R.I.P., Dolores, we miss ya' ( I wish you could hear me 'keening' these words )........upon reflection, I think the actress covering the glass is a metaphor for Dolores being gone from us ( a reference from the Cranberries' video, with Dolores in gold )........

Tommy, the singer, was kicked out of bad wolves for voicing his opinion on certain topics around 2020 or 2021.
It's that punch to the guts when you hear the updated year (2018) that just makes you crumble upon yourself.

This is truly one of the best covers I've heard. They did a great job of paying homage to the original and I feel like Dolores would have loved it (she was supposed to work with them on it but died the night before). 💜💜
