It made it that little bit more awkward when they were finally relegated a few years ago and they had to turn off the clock

I Attended a game at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt in 1989 or so, more than a decade before its major upgrade for the World CUp.. It was a beautiful open air place, and I'm not sure I enjoy the roof on it.

Germany's second devision has high attendence rates. Manclubs are in germany's second and third devisions have a lot of tradition. It might also be due to severe regulation that stadiums in their second devision are also in a good & beautiful status.

I worked as a security guy in stadiums the fellas with the orange or yellow shirts. Max-Morlock-Stadium was the main place for me. In winter its fricking cold while in spring/sommer the sun was unberable. In 2014 on my first or second day of work Germany played against Gibraltar. Normaly you're not suposed to watch the game and you're facing to the ranks. But there was no task left for me so the supervisor placed me near the corner just infront of the pitch saying "today you're lucky, enjoy the game" And i stood there starstrucked as a young lad seeing the current world champions. It was a amazing night! Ps. Joachim Löw is a little fella while Müller or Boateng are fucking big.

It's cool the way you keep picking up on the old style 1950s floodlights. Very German. Love their footy culture; all week they live normal lives, then come maychday they go nuts. Shame its not like this in the UK. Fans there are lazy, entitled (the hunger games styled 'please can I have your jersey') and the atmosphere is poor comparing the Germany. But, the football is much better. Go figure.
Italy is seriously (bad pun there) it's own animal. Outside the big cities, money is much harder to come by. Look at the situation in Cagliari: Sant'Elia which was renoveted for Italia 90 is now abandoned, and they are using amakshift tempo stadium. San Nicola (Bari) isnt seeing much glory since their relegation. Benevento and Salernitana making it upat least temp.. to serie A is shwoing how crappy anything in Campania is beyond SanPaolo/Maradona.
