- Welcome to Behavior Education at Spirit Keeper Animal Sanctuary. This is Serpentes Sunday for April 14, 2024. Something came up on Saturday night that I thought was a good learning opportunity or at least a good opportunity for me to demonstrate a situation in which I might use forced handling and forced relocation, even if just temporarily for a snake when it is not an emergency but is a necessity in order to take care of other animals here.
Sunspear, a Morelia bredli who free roams my office and one of our workspaces, was guarding the cart where we keep our dog food, dog dishes, and prepare meals for the dogs and, you guessed it, we needed to feed the 15 dogs we have here. Is that an emergency? Not really but it also isn't appropriate to wait an unknown amount of time for Sunspear to move on her own so that the dogs can be fed.
Later in the video I remind you of how I tag exercise tents to remind me and other when they are occupied and who is inside; then we take a look at TC coming out of his enclosure. This video is kind of a vlog, and kind of just an informal opportunity for me to demonstrate and remind you of some things. It is unedited so the sound and activities are as they were at filming: dogs barking because they are excited to eat, dishes being cleaned, etc. Have fun!
