As a Dutch person I wouldn't describe the 4-0 loss against France in the 2018 WC qualifier as humiliating. It was probably the weakest Dutch side we've played with in the last 20 years, were already out of form while the French had a world-class team. Not to mention three of Frances goals were scored when the Netherlands were one man down. Really nobody in the Netherlands was surprised by this result.
As a fellow Dutchman myself i would agree. Also France at that time was considered to be one of the best in the world so losing to them isn't humiliating.

Ask a french football fan and the most humiliating defeat for them will probably be against Italy in the WC final. But no big score so....

I still remember that 2014 Semi-final game between Germany and Brazil vividly. One of the most humiliating nights in the history of football for Brazil. I had watched the game with a German by the way. When i congratulated her after halftime she responded with the game is still not over. Turned out she was right about that.
She probably said it because it's a rather common superstition in Germany to believe that congratulations in advance bring bad luck.

Interesting how almost all teams have held both end of the stick... except Germany. Well, at least in this video. "Monster scores" would probably have been a better title, because Germany losing 2:0 against South Korea, a mere four years after they became world champions, was pretty humiliating in my books.
Your comment got me curious. I found a list of the biggest defeats of Germany compiled by a German newspaper. They lost 4:0 against Brazil in the '99 Confed Cup, 5:1 against Romania in 2004 in a friendly match, and 5:1 against England in 2001 in the World Cup Qualifiers.
If I didn't miss anything, these are the highest defeats since Germany lost 8:3 against Hungary in the World Cup '54 (and we all know how that one ended, right? ^^)
Surely, there are enough not less humiliating defeats with fewer goals scored, no doubt about that, but your sentiment about the high losses seems to be right.
(There are some higher defeats in said list, but they are all pre WW2, the highest being a 9:0 loss against England in 1909, but I wouldn't really count anything for or against any team before WW2, as football (or soccer for you US guys out there) wasn't that developed on an international stage back then.)
Brazil got their arrogant asses handed to them. It's so satisfying to see they still haven't really recovered from that match 6 years later.
