I used to be a miner myself, but at my school in Yorkshire we used to sing this ballad in music class (not sure why as we were kids and never heard of it). But I remember the tune and some of the lyrics to this day. I’m 63 now. Thanks for the video and may they rest in peace.
My Grandad was one of the rescuers on that day in September 1934 he swapped his shift to his mate so he can watch Wrexham play , and my Grandad worked . when he got to Gresford BANG! he and many others helped to get a lot of there work mates out but not all My Grandad did not want to talk about the disaster he change the subject quick on to some thing else My Grandad passed away in 2005 R.I.P
