Her mom, played by Garner, searches relentlessly for a solution. Garner joins TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie to talk about the film, how it encouraged her to reengage with her faith and her church, and how she and her husband Ben Affleck are working through their divorce while in the public eye.

I love this woman! Such a beautiful energy to her and love the way she carries her self!! So much grace and beauty!!
What a genuinely kind way she answered the questions - this is a story based on someone's else and their story and experience- she didn't insert herself or her beliefs which is so refreshing with actresses. Her nod to all mothers with sick children' was so sweet- and how grateful she is for her heathy children- lovely personality and is a class act.
I empathize. As a mother it's gruelling to have a child in health issues. The tests, the surgeries, the ongoing battles. I admire the strong ones that hold themselves together; I wasn't one of those. Jennifer Garner is an amazing actress. 💕

I love Jennifer Garner. She's a great actress and she produces and stars in a great cooking show, "Pretend Cooking." My favorite is when she zooms with her Mom and asks her questions. She was great in this film. Loved it.

+Julie Dunn I think the story is more about not needing the genuflecting and grovelling before an unjust, cruel Christian god, who, if you are a true Christian would have had to create the child as she was in the first place. If you want to have faith, toss out the garbage and NEVER let a church or sanctimonious minister take it away from you. It's nonsense for this family, or for Garner to think "reconnecting" is done by making more regular visits to a Christian facility or praying longer and harder. You don't need religion, and you especially don't need what American Christianity has become, in order to have faith. BTW, spontaneous remission can and does happen to people of other religions and to atheists. There are many, many more who are just as "Christian", if not more so, who pray and pray, to no end, whose children do not recover or do not live. Just because we don't know how an occasional remission happens, doesn't mean we have to attribute superstition to the explanation.

I just want to say I love Jennifer Garner she was the perfect person for the role and pretty sure she a wonderful lady in life, but she states that she attend a Methodist church every Sunday, I just want to say what need to be said going to a service every Sunday doesn't make u a Christian nor does it make u saved ( like saying u go to a garage shop that fixes cars but doesn't make u a mechanic ) it what in your heart and u confusing your a sinner and u need to be saved buy the blood of Jesus Christ, giving your soul to god and having that relationship with heavenly father that created you

i saw this movie yesterday
She does show a kind heart and sincerity in her acting role. And I do think she is a sincere person.
What is difficult to understand is supporting an organization that aids and abets even viable outside the womb late-term children, that die with tiny panicked screams struggling to breathe, or are torn apart, or otherwise brutally killed. These things came to greater light after the media had to be urged to report on Gosnell in Phila., PA. That was many years ago. How can anyone say there is no bias when there hasn't been sustained reporting of an obvious heart-wrenching injustice for so many years. The media only puts a smattering and this is usually slanted. Where is the love and compassion for these children?

Isn't it obvious many persons in many venues who have flipped on many issues just use those issues for a changeable agenda? The propaganda for playing at heartstrings situational ethics to oppose God's Revelation has always been with us. Many times it's overt like Roman Empire persecution or Stalin's persecution. But these things always have years and years of propaganda to fuel them.

I'm neither 'right' nor 'left.' But I do believe its obvious that we have a Self-sufficient All-Powerful Creator Who Always Existed. And since that is true, God revealed morality through the centuries. Yes, scandal & hypocrisy with great heartbreak cloud this truth, but God would not leave us without being able to discern clear moral absolutes by God's own revelation. And since true evil exists, there must be a force our Benevolent Creator Strongly Desires and Does all God is able to deliver us to God from the influence of evil. So, since God must be Benevolent, Sees the wiping away of every tear at the end of time as we know it, empathizes with every iota of unearned suffering --- there must be a Benevolent reason so many are going through such hardships. There are so many solutions being bantered about by those on all sides - and yet they do not work. These ideas are good at getting a following, (i.e. workers of the world unite), but they do not work. Isn't it better to combat hypocrisy by discerning the already in place Divine Revelation with empirical moral absolutes and get through heart-wrenching situational problems as best we can than to 'throw the baby out with the bathwater?' While its not always in the forefront of conscience, many times using things like heartbreaking hypocrisy --- each of us ultimately denies the Divine Revelation to justify our own behavior. And taken collectively as humanity, rather than a more humane world, the world is more chaotic and heartbreaking, especially for children.

I don't understand why Fundamentalist Christians have such disdain for Hollywood. Much of Hollywood is still very faithful and spiritual. I don't understand this notion that Hollywood is agains the bible? This is one of my favourite movies. It really hit hard with me as I suffered at 14 years old with SMA Syndrome. Luckily I had a fantastic surgeon who helped me, even though I still struggle today. Faith got this family through an incredibly tough time and this movie continues to touch audiences around the world, religious or not.
