@JacobDeHaan Yes they sure are! But you know I think in 1982 Martin and Aykroyd should have written and starred in a movie of Festrunk Brothers, presented by Universal and directed by Ivan Reitman. And Aykroyd should have dedicated that movie in memory of John Belushi who died in the same year.

@@sigsin1 Eh, I was there. I remember first season with Chevy Chase, the Muppets, and the Albert Brooks video shorts. SNL has been a roller coaster in terms of quality for decades. Probably the best cast was the late 80s-early 90s era, with Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Chris Farley and others I'm forgetting. But the Bill Hader/Kristin Wiig era was great. Over the last 15 years, the women have been especially strong, including Kristin, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and now Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim. They've basically carried the show.

Their Czech is actually somewhat intelligible if you listen to it carefully. Those sentences do likely have a meaning, only parts are gibberish.
My rough try at transcribing everything I am certain of hearing: Steve: The black man is right. It is.........like evening [it is like this every evening?]. Dan: American..............Bratislava went tanks. They liked this very much in Czechoslovakia. Steve: Yeah, I am so...... Please?
One of Dans sentences - "they liked this very much" part - is absolute 100 percent czech sounding. Intonation, stress on syllables and everything. Hard to say it right as czech is considered one of the hardest languages in the world for english native speakers. Crazy.

Those wecre the days when the characters actually looked at each other when they spoke and didn't use the cue cards at all. They actually studied and memorized/ learned their lines. Nowadays they look past each other and never make any eye contact because they're too focused on reading the cue cards. They did alot of drugs back then and the still managed to memorize their lines. They are classic and quality shows. The best ther ever was. Nothing will ever compare unless Lorne starts cracking the whip.

Hard to do right. Crazy.

It might be hard for younger viewers to understand how popular the two wild and crazy guys were for a brief time in the late 70s.
We stopped whatever we were doing Saturday night to watch SNL during these seasons. Especially when Steve Martin was on.
This is an early version of cringe comedy, I think. Part of the humor was that Aykroyd and Martin were willing to be so ridiculously, embarrassingly uncool. For self-conscious, teenage me, it was an absolute hoot. I don't remember how many wild and crazy guy sketches there were, but we all talked about our bulges with this accent off an on for the better part of a year.
I'm curious if younger people still find this as funny as I did and still do.

While Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd are still alive and in good health they need to do a modern skit of these two guys, the Festrunk Brothers, as they would be in the 2010's. Next time Steve or Dan is on as the host, have the other come on secretly and bring them out in the scene. The audience will go BONKERS when they see who they are, especially if they are STILL dressed in that same seventies swingers garb, with the gold chains, etc.
