Nice video Jared! Love the "Nice vs Not Nice" analysis. I agree with all the frustrating little quirks that will hopefully get fixed, but I'm still liking them better than the old!
Jared, dashed line problem; install the units without the countertop and use Countertop 25. That works for me. Also it's the way they will build it on site. P.S. great videos, keep up the good work.
Doing the counter separately is definitely more flexible. And allows for better detail-I was just visiting a project of mine today where we curved the inside corners of the counter. Can't do that unless the counter is modeled as a slab! But for my typical work, especially doing SD, using the integrated countertop is beyond worth it.
Hello! Thanks for sharing. It seems like they've also removed the shelves option. Do you know how to add shelves to the 'standing cabinet block 25'. Cheers
Go to Segment Details, find the Segment you want, change the Segment Type to 'Open', then change the number of Inner Segments to one more than the number of shelves you want. Under Segment you can also change the shelf thickness. If you want uneven height shelves, create more Segments under Segment Geometry and make all the Segment Types Open and follow the same instructions above.
is there a way to have multpile shelves and only one door? I notice that for every segment I make there is no way to just give the overall carcass one door
I haven't made custom markers in a long time. I got tired of maintaining them. Feel free to email an image of what you're trying to do. If I have ideas or alternate solutions, I'll share them.
It's so useful. It's probably my favorite app. I use it during videos, during meetings, to scribble over the archicad model for quick screen grabs, etc. I definitely use it every day.
I just checked Archicad. To change the counter Surface, you have to go to one of the last tabs (3D representation, I think). It's annoyingly not an option under the counter tab.
4:20 - How I solved this issue (somehow by accident) I set my carcass Contour Pen to transparent, I set my Cabinet Contour line to Dotted, These two unlocked me possibility to easily hide contour lines using the visibility function. Or just glitched the matrix :)
Hello, absolutely lovely channel. I have a question and this might not be the right place to ask but I am not sure if youtube ha s a dm function yet. I am looking for more complex representation for windows. I wanna show the aluminum profiles but the only way I've managed to do so was using a library from schuco. Would love to see if you have videos in windows and custom objects for them. All the best 👍
The out of the box Archicad windows are super flexible but also fairly limited in their 3D representation/level of detail. My view is that's fine because they work well at 1/4" = 1'-0", which is the level of detail of a floor plan or section. For anything more detailed, you're in the realm of enlarged details and more 2D. Adding more detail to the frame just added more polygons to the model and more linework to the elevations. So it's not necessarily a good thing. That said...if you want more complex representation the answer is higher detailed objects. Ideally with MVO controls. I'm not sure what Objects are out there have what you want. So it might mean making your own. Which I think is a high level of effort for low return. If you make your own, it'd be GDL scripting or building basically fixed geometry and saving as a window. If you're just looking to do an enlarged 3D detail, I'd recommend just modeling the section of window you need with other tools, most likely complex profile beams and columns. Glad you like the channel!
@@Shoegnome Thank you for the reply. Schuco have a custom library that is exactly what I am looking for in terms of 2D and 3D the only problem I have with them is the limited setting when it comes to the window configuration itself. One small openings with two big ones and such. Yea you have a point tho that anything above what is shown with the normal windows in plan view especially goes more into details department and not overall floorplan 1:50 scale representation. Once again thank you for the answer and keep the great videos coming 👍
About half. If you watch my Archicad 26 review, I cover the changes. The knobs and feet are still crunk, but everything else is much improved. I was just pestering Graphisoft yesterday to keep the fixes coming. So who knows, maybe someday all my concerns will be addressed.
@@Shoegnome To add to the frustration: the Countertop 25 and built-in dishwasher objects have not been updated to match. I've had to add a stand-alone dishwasher and add a 2' countertop side extension to an adjacent cabinet.
@@jeregamm It would be nice if both those were updated as well. The only thing missing in 2D with the built0in dishwasher is the dashed line showing the face of the dishwasher, which I'm okay not having. What is not working for you?
Truly.. After listening to your presentation, and now giving what I thought was going to resolve the more than disappointing cabinet tools in ArchiCAD. It appears Graphisoft had turned what was not great, into terrible. What is most strange, is the basic terminology against functionality, it seems like very little research was enter into before commencing this project..
All the cabinets are out of the box from Acrhicad 25+. The Shoegnome Open Template for Archicad has good examples and Favorites, so check that out: www.shoegnome.com/template/

thanks and same.
WELL COME BACK JARED.!!
🙂 hopefully I'll somehow find time for more videos in 2021. 🤞

@@Shoegnome Thanks so much!! Appreciate it!
Happy to help.
How can I change the front and the countertop of the cabinet? (Like color, style, material…)
All those options are just settings within the objects. They are easy to change.
is there a way to have multpile shelves and only one door? I notice that for every segment I make there is no way to just give the overall carcass one door
Set the segments to 1 to get just one overall door. Then under that segment, you should be able to set the number of shelves.
@@Shoegnome thanks so much that seriously helped me immensely
Great video! Now, how do you get rid of the dashed lines on the wall cabinets? They don't seem to have the same options as the base cabinets.
As of Archicad 25 we are stuck with those lines.
We hope to see you often
And I think one of the most challange we have is how to create custom marker (for grid and elevantions) and how to use them
I hope you can help on this
I haven't made custom markers in a long time. I got tired of maintaining them. Feel free to email an image of what you're trying to do. If I have ideas or alternate solutions, I'll share them.
@@Shoegnome ok I will try
Hi Jared, will you be submitting your AC25 cabinets issues comments to Graphisoft for their consideration of improvement? I hope so!
I have. All these issues and more comments/thoughts/ideas. Part of the reason I recorded this video was to share my thoughts with Graphisoft.
Great Video! One question. What software do you use to remark things on display? Thank you!
Presentify for macOS. I use it constantly. Such a great little app. presentify.compzets.com/
@@Shoegnome thank you! Seems very usefull.

Hello, can't seem to change countertop material when using a cabinet with a sink. Any ideas?
I've never had that issue before. Can you not find the counter top option or does it not work when you change it? Is this is 26?
I just checked Archicad. To change the counter Surface, you have to go to one of the last tabs (3D representation, I think). It's annoyingly not an option under the counter tab.

I didn't think you could set lines to transparent, only fills!

Hi, really helpful video but how do you change the countertop material?
it's just a setting in the object. All the Surfaces are together on the Representation Tab. Go to that and scroll way down on the list.
Did any of the complaints get fixed with version patches or with AC26?

I agree with everything you've said. The handle location is infuriating. Otherwise, they're much improved.
I have a feeling there's some other nice features buried in there we'll all find useful. Plus some more frustrations!
