A series of the people on Mythical Kitchen living on a farm for like a week and making 5 videos of you guys participating in growing/killing what you use to cook and use a chuck wagon to cook would be super entertaining
I knew a couple who not only thought they were “food gods”, but she was a whiskey bro and he was a wine ✨expert✨. Over my years of knowing them they took me to some of the worst restaurants, mediocre wineries, and she drank like… one mid tier whiskey and claimed all others were trash. They wouldn’t take any suggestions and would get upset if anyone wanted to go against their suggestions. AND they were super rude to wait staff. That said, I don’t care what you think you know - be nice and don’t yuck anyone else’s yum. You’ll keep more friends that way 💁🏻♀️
Nicole's "no routine" routine is my entire life. Loooove waking up everyday like "what adventures does this day hold" Usually it's something like forgetting to brush my teeth that morning, then showing up for karaoke somewhere that night
I stopped drinking alcohol when I realized that every debilitatingly cringey memory I have comes from when I was drunk. Those memories you think back on and almost have to shout them out of your head they’re so embarrassing. I just can’t hang
I would like to second the calls to make an episode where the Mythical Kitchen crew work on a farm for one or a whole series of episodes. That sounds like a future classic! Great episode 👍.
I've been almost 7 years sober. Decided to quit before my first son was born. Now I can't drink alcohol because of meds. I don't miss it however, I have some GREAT stories brought to you by alcohol.
Do not do that. Do not just deflect someone's sober journey like that. Usually when people say they are sober, they are recovering from addiction. That is a very personal and special journey and what you did was very rude.@@RedNeckEric Congrats on your 7 years, OP.
Lol I'm glad this podcast is still going strong. This got me through a lot of 13-16 hour shifts at TGI Fridays line cook/ prep cook shifts before it shuttered its doors in 2022 😂😂
when drinking hard liquor, take a deep breath, take the shot, immediately exhale - it's the fumes that get ya - A little trick i learned drinking moonshine
I'm sitting listening to the Tiki section and I really want to see Gregg from How To Drink on AHIAS and Joscole with Gregg for a HTD episode in the Mythical Kitchen. Also I would watch the hell out of a short series with the mythical team on a smallscale family farm 😂
17:33 LOL I was gonna just save this video to watch later, but after gleaning Tech 9 on the time stamps, I just paused the rest of my day to figure out how he even comes up on Mythical Kitchen 😂
I have framed a whiskey prescription from the prohibition. It’s kind of extra cool because it appears that it was a woman doctor prescribing for a woman patient as a treatment for cramps. 😂 It’s hung over my mini seven bottle bar.
okay so basically in Italy what lower class/ poor people do for money is travel to France by bus (or flixbus because it's cheaper than train) and work in vineyards during September. apparently it pays really well and you're constantly drunk coz you get to drink for free at all times
If you want to get super technical and pretentious about it; botanically speaking, vegetables don't exist. We classify things as vegetables to separate them from fruits, but most of the things we call vegetables, are fruits. A tomato, for example. Also, a banana is a berry.
Haven't given up on dry January. In fact, surprisingly at 48 years old, I've discovered edible, uh, gummies, and i don't think I'll be drinking as much, period, from now on.
nice work! i also am still on dry january, and I dont think I'll be drinking ever again, I have found this month to be surprisingly easy and I'm pretty content to end my relationship with alcohol here. I also smoke a lot of weed/edibles/rosin, i grow my own (its legal here!), make my own oil etc. but ive always done that, even when i was drinking heavily. i think actually mushrooms helped me quit alcohol more than anything. Because it aligned my mind and body and spirit to go in the same direction, making quitting surprisingly easy
If a hot dog is a sandwich then does that make bologna a hot dog? It's around and has a wrapping on it like a hot dog. it's basically a giant hot dog you silce.
I'm with Nicole, Liquor is quicker. Also, I genuinely prefer the taste. As an adult, I've managed to develop my palate to not hate wine and beer, but they will always be a "when I'm in the right mood" drink for me, and usually I max out at one glass.
I think a cookie is something that gets formed midway through the process of making it. Not gonna say formed before baking, because some cookies aren’t baked.
I personally hate beer, hate the taste of hops but my family has a family drink/ cocktail: the old Manhatten- where you need to find an old bar tender to make it properly. Though I prefer whiskey, hard liquors, and wine
I'm 25 and I've never really drank, and I never really plan on it. I always could, my parents were never super against it or anything but alcohol is just gross. Any drinks' taste is made better side by side with the absence of alcohol. Josh and Nicole really do be making everyone sound like alcoholics though.
it is so interesting to me that people have a difficult time going a month without drinking alcohol. not just in the you like to drink, but how do you have multiple events where there's alcohol in a month??? and i say this as someone from a country where we have a day dedicated to when a seasonal beer comes out. and i like to drink alcohol too so i usually do when i am at events that have it. very different lifestyles i guess
Growing up with parents that never drank, it seems to me that most people are casual achohlics. No judgement in that statement, even tho I don't drink I smoke way too much weed. Same as caffeine or cigarettes I guess
Multiple birthdays for me in January, not a sip, just a lack of self control for some probably, though that's not to say I have good self control in other aspects of life personally
Tasting wine is highly personal. Focus on what you smell and _why._ Sense of smell is intimately tied memory. Actually, this goes for all things, not just wine. I used to use wine tasting methodology for beers.
I miss Double Bastard so much. Stone had many, many great beers that they discontinued in favor of…”branching out” and getting weird. Ruination (and 2.0), Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, Russian Imperial Stout…Oaked Arrogant Bastard. But mostly Double Bastard. Bring it back, Stone!
At 34:00 and beyond, I think there's an argument for calling Rice Krispies Treats cookies - if cookies require eggs, sugar, and flour; then the constitute components of a rice krispies treat could qualify: rice krispies (rice flour) and marshmallows (which *can* be made with egg). Just some food for thought
Nicole, you need to start a show like Travel Man from the U K They go places for a weekend and learn things around Europe, North Africa and Middle East. I love the Richard Ayoade version!
Nah I've actually stuck out the long haul for the month, though I technically did drink in the early hours of the morning on the January 1st, but I don't count it because I hadn't slept for it to be a new day yet No intention of drinking any time soon, much healthier and showing myself that I can do anything I can put my mind too
I am a non drinker. Whole family was drinkers. I drink once in a blue moon. I am glad even though as a non drinker, I could learn some stuff from this episode. I was worried going in. I also think ya'll drink too much.
They are talking about not being able to go 30 days without drinking. That to me, is a problem. I don't need to drink to recognize a potential problem, quit gate keeping.@@iamReddington
I just feel like you didn't really listen to the words they said and heard "My goal was to not drink but I went to a babyshower." They didn't say "I tried not to drink but by week two I just really needed a drink." They were talking about a social event that involved celebration and they wanted to participate. So many people in these comments moralizing not drinking is weird. @@Gigaheart
A great cocktail/shot is "Chocolate Cake". Usually split, 2 oz. Vodka, 1 oz. Frangelico Liqueur shaken garnished with a sugar coated lemon slice chaser. Not advisable to have more than 2 by yourself or 4 split into at least 3 shots. Have to eat the lemon afterwards.
I agree with this. It doesn't have flour, but it is a grain bound by some combination of eggs/sugar/gelatin/cornsyrup/etc. There's an argument it is more of a cake or a bar dessert (e.g. brownies), but it's definitely in the family.
If you have friends in your 40's you can probably separate many of those who have been regular social drinkers from those who have not been by body type. Spare tires etc become permanent. I'm glad it never really caught on for me, as much as I enjoy beer - at my peak I would drink enough to get buzzed once every month or couple of months..
How do I leave a voicemail? Wanted to ask about bread and butter pickle chips or each bite of grilled cheese. Learned about it from my grandmother’s friend and every one thinks I’m crazy
Best Sommelier I ever met, told me don't listen to suggestions of wine pairings with food. Everyone's tastes are different. Find a wine that you like and stick with it. It's ok to have white wine with pasta, or red wine with fish. Enjoy what you like.
“Cookie” is a dynamically adjustable identifying label applied to a food meeting a majority threshold average of broadly accepted cookie-like attributes. Now…I don’t have the exact numbers on me at this particular juncture, but just trust me on this, okay. A rice krispy treat does not meet that criteria. Vis a vis. Concordantly.

As I lay here suffering from gout. The direct result of consuming alcohol ( and steak ) i reminiscent of why i started to listen to this pod . I thought it was podcast about food . But it's really just a podcast with 2 silly geese sometimes talking about food .

February 1st is 3 years sober, no alcohol, for me! I have lost close to 60 lbs since stopping.
Yeah lots of calories in booze.
Congratulations! It's been a few years for me also
Good for you! That's amazing
Yeah haven’t drank in over 5 years. Finally can see alcohol added nothing of value to my life.
Didn't finish the video. Been sober since Oct 6 2018.
Kudos to all of those people that can drink responsibility for I am not that.
Mythical HR: Ok Josh, thanks for stopping by. Did you by chance ask a colleague if she was particularly wet?
Josh: Yea!
at least he didn't use ....moist
A series of the people on Mythical Kitchen living on a farm for like a week and making 5 videos of you guys participating in growing/killing what you use to cook and use a chuck wagon to cook would be super entertaining

Forest Gump line is when he drank too many Dr. Pepper's and met the president.
"Liquor before Beer, have no fear"
Liquor before beer, your in the clear. - beer before liquor, never been sicker.
