Yes, red cloth is used in this way in Tibetan Buddhism & also in First Nations' spiritual traditions.
In First Nations spiritual practice, traditional prayer ties are made by using red cloth (& also other colors) to tie small bundles of tobacco [a sacred medicine plant in F.N. spiritual practice]. These are known as "prayer ties."
In Tibetan Buddhism, the sacred texts known as "Terma" are carefully & individually wrapped in red cloth, usually tied up with yellow thread or yarn.
Red (or more precisely, dark red/marroon) is the color of the robes of the lamas & anis of my lineage, known as the Drikung Kagyu lineage. With a yellow-gold sash or belt.

I’m very familiar with Vedic/Tantric/Bon tradition. These are Himalayan traditions. No such deity carries a knife to defend itself carry a knife either cut and remove karma. Remove the skull from a willing host so they may remove the ego for the host removing that it is harmful most Himalayan traditions are steep and traditional thought and imagery it stems through medical practice. There is only one implement that could be considered used like offensive or defensive weapon, and that would be considered the sword of wisdom, and which fights against ignorance, giving no choice for ignorance to yield when observed.
