  • In this video IPD shows you some of the common symptoms you might run across with a failed PCV box on a late model Volvo. That high pitch squeal may not be coming from a belt or bearing. Check out our website for more information. www.ipdusa.com

Thank you so much for posting this! My car started making this exact sound a few weeks ago and my local mechanic had no idea what it was. Now maybe I can get it fixed.

This is exactly what I am seeing happen on my wife's S40. Sounds horrifying and then ya pull the dip stick and sound goes away. I've rebuilt her engine before so looks like I'll get to do a much smaller project and replace this part this time. :) Thanks IPD

I should feel happy that my squealing noise was my heater/AC fan! Fixed with a very quiet replacement from IPD.

What about the sound like a honking goose when I remove the oil dipstick on the 2010 Volvo XC90 3.2? I just replaced the oil deflector trap and the honking noise is there (there is also P420 and P430 catalytic converter codes which get tripped every 100-300 miles)?

I have a mystery squeal coming from my pax door on my XC70, but it only happens when the car is on and it sounds like it’s coming directly out of the speaker close to the door handle. We’ve had lots of rain so, I’m thinking maybe trapped water under pressure?

I have a similar sound. Only audible when I turn even slight to the right and press the gas pedal. Could it be something else?
