ビジュアルノベルゲーム『魔法使いの夜』(原作：奈須きのこ・TYPE-MOON)の劇場アニメーション化が決定致しました。
アニメーション制作は、『空の境界』『Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel]』など、数多くのTYPE-MOON作品をアニメ化し、現在放送中のアニメ『鬼滅の刃』を制作するufotableが手掛けます。

『魔法使いの夜』はTYPE-MOONが開発・販売したビジュアルノベルPCゲーム、2012年4月12日に発売。
シナリオを『空の境界』『Fateシリーズ』の生みの親である奈須きのこ、グラフィックを長年TYPE-MOONのクリエイティブに携わるこやまひろかずが手掛け、物語・映像・音楽・演出といったノベルゲームに必要とされるすべての要素を最高の水準で作り上げた、正統派“ビジュアルノベル”として話題を博した。
奈須きのこが『月姫』発売の前に執筆した未発表小説が源流であり、TYPE-MOON作品の時系列において最も古い1980年後半を舞台として描いている。

Seems like Ufotable is ready to go beyond what they achieved in Heaven's Feel
They've really improved over the years, its so beautiful
I just hope they turn down the flashyness a little bit, because Heaven's Feel was brought down a bit by the flashy chaos going on onscreen you couldn't make out what was actually even happening at times...
Still, great movies and hella excited for this one

@@jokki4886The lighting and shading work looks better in here in my opinion. Background art is about the same level as Heaven’s Feel at the very least. This PV showed more scenery than action anyways.
@@phillipn6475I liked the way how in Heaven's feel compositing looked more 2d-ish but in this trailer it looks way more 3d-ish, especially from 1:09 to the end

作画クオリティに作品の内容が負けてると作品のポテンシャルが分からなくなる
逆だとその作品のポテンシャルが最大限活かされない
でもufotableと型月作品はどちらも頂点に立つ
ただただ最高と言うしかない
This is not the first time for ufotable to work with Type moon stories, we are sure they will take the best. besides, they are constantly working on themselves

For those wondering the song's name is Aozaki Aoko by Hideyuki Fukasawa. It's from the OST of the visual novel (game).

@@link8743 The "Aoko Aozaki" song is kinda a remix of "Imbalance/Blue" (the first part) and First Star (second part) put together.

このFateや月姫のようなギャルゲー感の無いきのこの癖の塊みたいな作品をアニメでやってくれる喜びは三千世界に響き渡る。
まほよはやっぱり洋館の日常、昭和後期の学生の価値観や時代の終わりと始まりを示す世相に感じうる彼らの瑞々しい反応が大好き。
トビマル、ホウスケ、草十郎の悪友三銃士のノリの会話がとかく好き。
アニメ化だとだいぶカットされるんだろうなぁと感じつつも、やっぱりまほよはそういう日常のありふれた世界を楽しむ作品でもあるわけで。
昭和後期の型月世界を魔術師じゃない草十郎の視点で観察する、独特の空気感を期待。
自分の青春が映画化されるのが嬉しすぎる。
何回も見てる。最高です。

you should count remake since mahoyo right now is tied to remake continuity where as OG Tsukihime is tied to the 1997 Novel of Mahoyo rather than the 2012 VN.

I'm just finishing the visual novel, and the shots from this trailer looks exactly the same as the visual novel but 100x better cause its animated. It's unreal.

Mahoyo is the master of pieces of this Decade. Peak Nasuverse, this teaser alone gave me chills. I can't wait to see Aoko Red Shift fully animated by Ufotable. Nothing in this world can top up the quality produced by Ufotable when it comes to adapting any Nasuverse related works. It's their signature

I played through this earlier in the year, absolutely loved it. So glad we're getting it animated now! Glad to see they're pulling out all the stops for the animation, but I also really loved the ambiance of the VN as well in the SoL parts.

Already love how Ufotable manage to capture the already amazing art and visual presentation of the Visual Novel. The scenes used are pretty much a 1:1 of the scenes in the VN. Hoping they don't ruin the story. Aoko vs Flat Snark better be as epic as the VN.

I have been endlessly frame scrubbing through the four cuts 1:13 to 1:23 and have been in love with the discoveries I have made studying them:
- in the second cut in that region, the character is entirely CG for most of it, except for her face, yet it's blended together so well.
- at the end of that second cut when the hand is filling the entire frame and has all of the smearing, that is the point she stops being CG
- the fact that they can jump from the first cut (a close up of a drawn hand) to the second cut (a medium shot of a CG hand) and have them look almost identical is impressive.
- It was only through the combination of perspective shift in motion and the interplay of the cell shading that her body being CG became apparent to me.
- when she starts punching forward the distance between her shoulder is suuuper exaggerated and it helps communicate the motion of a punch that is easily readable and helps sell the amount of force this spell is going to apply when cast.
- in the second cut, she is animated entirely on ones until she closes her hand and the red lighting takes over, it is after this moment she then becomes animated on twos.
- in both the first and third cuts, the rotational motion of the beams shooting out are clockwise, but are also in going clockwise giving a sense of "moving against" everything else in the scene, which increases the feeling that more is happening than actually is. (and there is a lot happening). This might just be an attempt of replicating light in a camera lens, but it is effective.
- the forth (last) cut I don't have too much to say, since it is just a 3d camera dolly with half the frame covered in lightning, but studying the magic elements in front of the character, the motion of the white lines, and the flickers of red, I find the timing useful to see how impact frames are handled. like how the white beam had three frames of crazy off-axis rotations just before shooting forward,
- and of course, there are the three frames of all-white, inverted-image, all-back just before the big "blue explosion", which is pretty common technique, but expanded over a time of seven frames for the full impact you get to see a lot of the choices they made to really sell a heavy punch
