The Hawaiian Islands are known as the "Extinction Capital of the World" to losses from invasive species, habitat destruction, and disease. While we have 25% of the nation's endangered species, we only receive 3% of the federal funds available for conservation. Given these challenges, alongside increasing threats from climate change and sea level rise, how can we transform the Hawaiian Islands from the "Extinction Capital of the World" to the "Recovery Capital of the World"? In this seminar, I will briefly present our research to date, and then will outline strategies to achieve a thriving future.
