Snorkeler Accidentally Finds GOLD NUGGETS!

- This video documents how I happened upon some gold nuggets and how I was finally able to secure my own gold claim on this amazing spot on the river after years of patient waiting. I discovered this spot while floating across to the other side of the river, I looked down and saw a gold nugget just sitting on the bottom... then I found more! More than I've ever found in one day gold panning or sluicing or working on the shore. There's so much gold here! The timing for securing this gold claim couldn't be better with gold prices over $2,000 per ounce and 2023 flood waters bringing new gold down from the mountains. I am super excited to see what other gold this claim has just waiting to be found. Subscribe and join me on my adventures of discovery!

Yeah it's an old inside bend river channel up above the existing one on the side of the mountain. The terrain is pretty rough there but I'll have to poke around and see if I can find some nuggets up there at some point. I wish I could find some nuggets as big as some of the ones you guys are pulling over in the Australian gold fields!

That is so awesome that you found that shiny sexy gold nuggets onky to realize it was claimed and try to find and contact him no luck then you years later you end up with the claim. Thats awesome and with this years weather thats awesome brother what state are you in California what general area. I think that bedrocks going to have tons in it personally i subscribed and will be interested in seeing what you come up with heavy pans brother

I know right? Still can't believe I found an unburied nugget just sitting on the bottom of the river. That's definitely the stuff dreams are made of. People who have never prospected before probably don't realize how rare that actually is, even if it is a small nugget. I'd prefer not to give any information to narrow down the location of the claim, at least for now.
Lol right that's awesome I don't blame you on not revealing any information about your spot. Are you allowed to dredge. The amount of big rocks and material being moved in the rivers with all this snow this year I thinks going to reveal a whole bunch of new AU I'm In utah and I'm so wanting to go out to California for a few weeks go prospecting this summer here in the next few weeks. I highly recommend the highbanker, they can pay off big on the right ground.
Mine is 10" which allows me to use a smaller more portable pump making it easier to get into more remote spots with it and It can keep up to me shovelling myself my fastest into it no problem which I love :)

You’re much too nice and very honest. Just like hunting or fishing, property owners or claim owners need to post to keep people out. Otherwise no problem entering especially on a river or shoreline. Used to be Law in California if No Sign, No Fence or No Crop it’s perfectly Legal to enter. Good Luck Prospecting
Thanks, I just know how it would make me feel if someone took gold from my claim. It's really hard to police your own claim especially if you don't live right next to it so it really is kind of an honor system. Plus I really wanted to get in contact with him to ask him about possibly purchasing his claim. It all worked out in the end though.
It's called "unpatented" meaning it's not private property, anyone can enter, camp, etc. He only owns the mineral rights. Only "patented" claims are private property, and you can build and live on them plus you own the property, not the federal government.
Excellent vid Eric, some nice gold sniping, wondering if you got a wetsuit after your first time doing that. Just curious, what river is that? here in California?? Cool that you were able to get your claim. Thx, Serg
Thank you. I plan on getting a wetsuit so I can actually spend some time looking once the river level goes down. Can't wait for that! I prefer not to say where this is at least for now, if I start pulling out giant nuggets there would be an invasion.😂 I just like to say it's in the Pacific Northwest.

@@cisummar Yeah this is not a claim someone would just give up. I suspect the previous claim owner died. The info I did find on him 5 years ago showed that he was in his late 70's. Couldn't find him on Facebook or anything to contact him.

Definately need a wetsuit and portable hookah system. I've seen some guys doubling up a 5mmm and 7mm suit for cold/winter, but the mountain waters are cold most the year anyway.
Yes! That's exactly the plan. Wetsuit first to test more spots and then a hookah system if it looks worth it.
@@wildernesseric I just got into gold sniping myself from watching the same videos you have. I got in the water with snow melt with three things and was warm and hibernating bear.

Awesome, What is staking a claim? How can someone claim public land and have the right to own the gold there?

In the USA and some other countries on federal land if you find gold you can "stake a claim" to the gold on that area of land. You literally put a stake or post in the ground in that area and then register the claim with the government land entity that it's on.
@@wildernesseric thanks for the info, I'm from the UK lake district and plan on starting ASAP I don't think we have the same laws though it's quite tricky to find the info!

In the UK and all CROWN lands any treasure, minerals etc technically belongs to the crown. Not sure how they do gold in Canada and Australia though.

I think your story is out of order, usually people see the gold sniping videos then they go and try it.
Yeah I kinda stumbled upon it with that first nugget. Sniping was almost more special to me that way because it felt like something I discovered. I can't wait to get back in the water and find some more underwater wilderness bling.
