Wow! 100% agree … to know when to pass the ball is harder than being on a ball for too long!

This is about 1 on 1 sessions not about whether dribbling is over coached. Is there too much emphasis on ball mastery, 1v1 skills, etc. especially at the younger ages? I assume you're talking about MyPFC in terms of coaching sequences. Doesn't he train Noni?

Some good points, but I disagree with few things. Very good to hear others point of view

Stay on the ball doesn't mean hog the ball, never pass, do a zidane spin every time you get the ball. Knowing when to pass is included in the stay on the ball message. The idea is to create technically able young players that rarely lose the ball for their team. Nations that Rob mentions (Brazil and Spain) have players that can do this

Too obsessed with decision making. Let the young players develop their close control

Bad footballing habits have never been due to not having a 1 on 1 session

Yes of course. My problem with peoples use of it is they are selling a skill that doesn’t really improve players as footballers

my lad just spent a year a a academy..... he learnt more as a defender watching tefazoline channel.... and yes far two much... time standing... in theses academy's parents pay for ..a few pop up cash cows with no internal pedigree......my opinion theses private academy look at it as child care for a hour than the passion for football and chasing money. .and yes they drip feed the kid for longevity for business purposes i.e money ...and yes everything ever week there was dribbling ha ha ha not once did they drill first touch look up pass even... over ya shoulder before receiving .....ram social media up ya arse parents need to be there and watching and savvy ....everyone cashing in on it..... ..my kid wanted to improve but he never got the chance ...stop start tecneeks i tuck a stop watch for one session near the end of pulling him out 60mins pay for...... 27mins playing and with in that 27mins with line up time ha ha ha .....nail on head trying to be superstar losing ball in tackles and putting defenders back under pressure and the kid getting praised cos he looked like he had skill but lost for the team ...any way am out .....

sorry but money is a very small factor. Loads of countries who have worse facilities than England are producing good players. Africa and South America for example

If the lad is not very good at football a 1 on 1 session is probably a waste
Do you think Wayne Rooney was getting 1 on 1 sessions? Unlikely
As ever, too much talk not enough competition to note results and to determine the best of an age group
Never in a million years could you teach someone to pull off those skills I've executed in matches

I think it shows most coaches and academies don’t really know the best way to coach the U6-U11 age groups, it shows because only 1% ever make it to the top level. It seems like it’s a bit of luck to where you live in the UK.
