Amazing Mathewson cards. All of them are beautiful. I was thinking about this the other day, that there were so many different products that had baseball cards. This could never happen today with just a few huge companies controlling trading cards. Too bad for us.
I liked this video before the video even started! The 1910 E-UNC Candy Mathewson is incredible to look at. An absolute gem and the history of it being on a candy box. The motors are running into wanting to know more about this one time candy company and their connection to baseball at the time. Great cards Dave!
Of candy box cards- orange borders, baseball bats, J=k, Shapira etc…. I think little is known of the e-unc . I’ve never seen a complete box and have no idea about who sold it, or even what it was selling 🤷♂️
Great video of some amazing cards. I too like the black cap T206 over the white cap. Mainly because of the NY on the sleeve with the black cap. Your collection never disappoints. Thank uou
Amazing! Love vintage with a stain on the back and a beautiful front. Eye appeal over grade, not that grades matter much for pre-war. Loved seeing these!
Exceptional Mathewson collection Dave! Those are some beautiful issues, and some very rare Mathewson cards as well. I personally love some tobacco stain on the cards on the back, gives it a bit of a vintage touch.
That T205 is a 2?? Wow. Beautiful card. That appears on the baseball card poster that Costanza had in his Yankees office. I had the same poster (it was actually MDF with the card images on it).
Beautiful Matty showcase Dave! Love them all but my favorites are the E92 Dockmans and the E93 Standard Caramel! You might as well show us the Walter Johnson collection next! 🤷😁
The best I can do is a wacky package run!😂. Love that Dobson and Sons and the T205. Hoping to find a Kid Elberfeld with decent gold, and centering. I tried tagging you in my 1928 Wacky Packages video, but I think I did it wrong.
Thanks for this video Dave. I have started collecting a number of the ice cream cards based on your videos. Ruth is really expensive these days so I am focusing on Cobb first. Quick question, I have a number of these, the T206 and 1887 presidential cards I’ll be grading. I’ve always liked the Black frame you get with SGC, especially with the B&W cards, but notice you have a number of them in PSA holders. Is that your preference, or simply how you bought them.?
I prefer prewar in sgc, but really makes no difference to me. I used to submit to both. I haven’t sent a card in to be graded in many years so anything I buy will already be in a slab. I’ve never taken out of a slab and sent to a different company… well maybe a couple times
Absolutely beautiful cards, Dave. Thanks for showing these to us. Curious to know if a motorcade met you to welcome you and Christy Matthewson to Florida?
Awesome Mathewson’s Dave. Thanks for sharing with us. Would you happen to know why the 1910 E-UNC cut from box appears to be red border and the E-UNC from the full panel looks to be black ?
1) He’s always in the conversation of all time great pitchers 2) He was one of the first “ gentleman “ of the game 3) Ww1 service with gas exposure that lead to a very early death 4) my dad collected him
@@Bluejacket66 thanks Dave! His service to our country contributes to my appreciation of Ted Williams. I will do some research into Mathewson's time in WW1!
Think about how kids got cards from tobacco. Not sure they could just go up to the drug store and buy some tobacco. Dad's giving away their cards to the children....too funny
Lots of newspaper articles back from circa 1910 about kid collecting t206 cards. It was a real craze. Lots of trading etc. Many adult smokers would throw away the cards. I guess they were all around on the sidewalks around smoke shops
Wow, fantastic collection of Matty. Love those super rare ones that we just don't see every day. Agree, the landscape image is amazing!
Thanks , matty has some great cards
Fantastic Mathewson collection; the T205 and the T206 portrait are his nicest cards; vintage royalty! Thanks for sharing
Portraits are certainly majestic

That’s true- never again
Dave, thank you for sharing this with us! These are some of the best examples of Mathewson I've seen in one collection. Outstanding 🤘🤘
I’ve always enjoyed his story and his cards

Beautiful cards. Always liked his Dockman the best.
What an image!! ( unlike the Wagner which is not so good)

Great showcase as always, sir. I can at least say that I do have an E 95 Matthewson. Thanks for sharing.

I agree!
Incredible collection. I've never seen the UNC full diamond box before!
It’s the only one of any player ive ever seen..
Fantastic collection Dave! Loved the Matty collection.
Stuke!
Hey Dave, very nice cards! You have an amazing collection! Once again, it was great meeting you in Strongsville. Adam

Hi Stephen!

It’s a great image, as are most of the t205a

Jimmy I don’t have a ton of WJ cards!!

@@Bluejacket66, 😂
Awesome Mathewson’s Dave. Thanks for sharing with us.
Would you happen to know why the 1910 E-UNC cut from box appears to be red border and the E-UNC from the full panel looks to be black ?
There were 3 colors- reddish, bluish and the gray
Thanks for clarifying Dave , much appreciated 😅
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Mic drop Matty collection I hope people realize how tough some of those cards are to find.
T205 Mathewson/E95/E90-1/E92 are all great looking cards! Congrats.
Have to ask though..... where are the W600 & E107 Mathewsons?
Most his candy cards are great- I agree
Those 2 are in the stratosphere, that’s where they are
No E300 Mathewson? Nice collection.
That’s in the private collection
Why is Matty one of your favorites to collect? I'll have to search your older videos.
1) He’s always in the conversation of all time great pitchers
2) He was one of the first “ gentleman “ of the game
3) Ww1 service with gas exposure that lead to a very early death
4) my dad collected him

My grail pre war card is a T3 mathewson
It’s a beauty. Hope you get one some day soon!!
