  • Columnist Bobby Ghosh makes us his childhood classic coffee brew: The Indian Cappuccino. Instant coffee has become very trendy, but Bobby shows us that it's always been around, and his favorite version is Nescafé. Silicon Valley has nothing on this delicious and affordable cup of coffee.

Oh hey, that's how I was making coffee in my twenties:) Nowadays, I skip sugar and instead add a teaspoon of condensed milk (the thick kind). Better than any coffeeshop syrup;]

Condensed milk is pretty much sugar and milk and yeah it tastes awesome in tea or coffee.

If you don't wanna add a lot of sugar you can take lots of coffee powder add it to one tbsp sugar and then whip it and Store the mix in fridge for further cups

Thank you sir for sharing this. You’re very correct as I have drank instant my entire life and I’m always looking for new ways to improve instant coffee. I am Indian as well. I live in USA and I agree that Nescafé is the best sir. Thank you for this idea. Could you share any ways to get the most caffeine from your instant coffee as possible?

I agree. I have all kinds of fancy coffee makers( Nespresso) machines at home.
I’m tired of Starbucks, etc. The best coffee I ever had was when I visited my aunt( originally from Czech) in Israel and she
made my first Ice Coffee, which was from
    Instant coffee ( probably Nescafé).
    Thanks for the refresher course!

Very true. I couldn't be bothered to get into anything outside of instant coffee after I figured out my favourite way of making it.
I make a paste out of 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, a bit of cinnamon or black pepper ( optional), a teaspoon of coconut sugar, a pinch of salt and...a teaspoon of organic coconut oil.
Add a bit of warm water. All that into a Mason Jar. Shake the mix. Add that whole thing to a cup of milk of your choice. Done.

A job I had brought me over seas to different places in europe. Most of the coffee I had was instant and I don't know what they did to it but it was really good and all I added was sugar like I normally drink back home in the states just black coffee and sugar. I'm sure it was the same stuff you used on video.

Instant coffee was all I knew in the UK until a bad hangover in 2013. So instead of drinking alcohol on nights out, I would drink coffee, and began to learn about the different types of coffee and different methods of making it.
When I was in high school, I thought instant coffee was the only way and wondered why people would go to Costa for a 'coffee' and pay over £2 for it 😅

We've had Nescafe for a long time, but it's unpopular compared to just owning a cheap automatic drip machine and brewing fresh. Check out Technology Connections's video on drip coffee makers if you want a nicely-presented history lesson.
The thing that's just starting to come up is SPECIALTY instant coffee, using higher-quality beans and more gentle brewing methods than commodity-grade, and sometimes shipping as a concentrate instead of a dehydrated crystal/powder. If you want to drink coffee black, or with very little added cream/sugar, this makes for a much better cup... though STILL, not really as nice as just freshly grinding and brewing high-quality coffee beans.
Don't get me wrong, a Greek frappe is a nice dessert drink (which is all this is), but in the morning I take a cup of v60 pourover, black.

This. No fancy words that sound like new curses. We Indians are better off trying out our own minds on this stuff. Yes, by encouraging creativity, we also get horrendous monstrosities like chocolate maggi, but those are only the by-products, unstable click inducing nuisances that fizzle away as soon as they emerge. Like a purple man once said: “A small price to pay for salvation.”

I'll try it when I wanna have a sugary coffee drink quickly but I prefer freshly brewed coffee from coffee beans that have been grounded. The difference in taste between instant coffee and freshly ground coffee is like night and day especially if you drink black coffee

    • @Dysfunctionality15
      @Dysfunctionality15 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Mike_Hawk1 The processing that instant coffee goes through to turn into those freeze-dried granules strips it of most of the subtle flavors you get in a properly brewed cup of fresh coffee. This isn't to say that it's all bad, of course. I drink instant almost every day simply for the convenience and price but it definitely has a different flavor profile.

@@chethanarayak8512 and it is bloomberg opinion (a “news” outlet run by a billionaire) propping up Fortune 500, by using videos that shame people for supporting small business and expecting us to support nestle and their crimes against humanity. We all have to use these brands at some point. But my point is that we shouldn’t be supporting this page created by a billionaire, supporting other billionaires, and taking away from small businesses

@@chethanarayak8512 I’m not referring to the process of how it’s made. And I’m not speaking about anyone’s race or culture…. I’m referring to the brand that is being promoted. A brand that pollutes water, takes public resources and sells it back to the poor.
Please don’t make this a culture/race issue. It’s a morality issue with the billionaires behind this video, who posted this video.
I’m not sure if the person in this video works for this company, or if Bloomberg just stole it off their page. The point is that Bloomberg has a huge reach. So yes.
