- It's time for a new adventure! After having trekked through many of these games time and time again, I wanted to have one final ultimate challenge in the vanilla mainline Pokemon franchise... Can I beat, every SINGLE Pokemon game in chronological order in a hardcore nuzlocke setting, and without reusing a single Pokemon in any other game? For instance, if I use Bulbasaur in Red version, I won't be able to use it in Blue, Yellow, Firered, or any other game. Come along on this journey with me and find the struggles, the cuts, the innovations, the strategies, and the potential laughs along the way.

Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Q. What are those non-nicknamed Pokemon in your party for, do they count towards the total?
A. They're HM users, nothing more. No, they don't count towards the total since they're never used in battle. Except Espeon and Umbreon, I still have yet to look up if Colosseum has a name rater lolol

A. Q. What about games like FR/LG where you get a starter that you've already used, do you fail the challenge?
A. No, since the nuzlocke doesn't start until I receive Pokeballs, I simply go out and capture an unused Pokemon at full HP and continue after boxing the starter.
Q. Are you choosing your encounters?
A. Yes, I have a document where I've laid out encounters for the entire franchise. But isn't that against the spirit of a nuzlocke? I don't think so, I think the battles are the main challenge, after all, I can just reset the run to get the right first encounter, but that would make producing these videos a lot slower and less enjoyable.

I think there's a ton to do between gyms in Hoenn! It's all optional but I'm a freak and love optional content and exploration. I understand the criticism but this is what I live for.
Emerald is bae. My favorite game ever. Only thing I don't like is the special/physical attacks being based on type.
Gen 3 remakes with the new abilities, physical and special attacks per type, fairy type and new tms, those are cool too.
Imma be real with you. I thought this was going to be filler content and thought you were just scrambling, but this one really resonates with me and has been a joy to watch. Sorry I doubted you!

4:28 I hate to be that guy, but level 32 doesn't mirror most starters level for final evolution. As a matter of fact, out of the 21 ordinary starters, only 3/21 evolve at level 32. The median is 36, the average is close to 35 (34,85). The most common evolve level is 36, being used 14/21 times.
Ah yes the trinity of games that is Ruby, Sapphire and ... Colloseum?
Given how the first two episodes worked I expected Emerald to be in here, but I guess this spreads the sameish games out a bit.
So I'm doing these in chronological order, and Colosseum was released as the 3rd game of 7 in Gen 3, it goes R/S, Colo, FR/LG, Emerald, and finally XD.

16:40 You're using Shock Wave on all the Water types with Alakazam even though Psychic will do more damage. It obviously doesn't matter since you're one-shotting them, but I guess that's another example of caveman unga bunga brain
Calling Treecko the worst Hoenn starter is like saying Strawberry is the worst flavour of ice cream. At the end of the day, its still ice cream. The balance of the Hoenn starters is virtually unmatched in the series

At 6:09 you can see he calculated exactly the exp for kadabra so that he wouldn’t level up. Nice.

Also at 11:15 he uses the good rod to catch a Carvanha but doesn’t have a Pokémon that can learn surf to reach the fisherman?

So wait, quick clarification question. Your FAQ says you're picking encounters, but I can't tell if that means "I'll get something in this specific route because I know what's here and hope it's what I want" or "I'm 100% getting this mon in this game for coverage". The Sapphire run kinda suggests the former with the surprise skarmory, but also the latter with lotad. Or is it some combo of the two?
Obligatory mention that Sceptile has 105 Special Attack and 120 speed. Also, the "dragon not doing much on Altaria because Dragon is special" isn't quite accurate, because Altaria has identical attack and special attack, it's more of a tank or support mon since both are at 70. Altaria probably would have been better saved for OR/AS.
STAB Psychic is actually stronger than supereffective Shock Wave, 135 (90x1.5) vs 120 (60x2)
As flawed as Colosseum is it has a special place it my heart for being the first pokemon game I played where most of the bosses used legitimate strategies:
Mirror B uses a Rain team
Daikim uses Prot-Quake (If you don't have a Flying Type out like you did)
Venus is classic Status Hell (She usually tries to Attract you before spamming Body Slam and Thunderbolt in an attempt to Paralyse)
Ein uses Thunder-Dance with liberal application of Lightning Rod to prevent you from turning it against him
And even the guy in the game's only gym is in on it, his whole strategy being to spam Sand Attack and Double Team while maintaining Sandstorm
It'll be interesting to see what pokemon will end up being unused. In particular if any non-legendary gen 1 pokemon, as that has what- FireRed, LeafGreen, Let's Go Eevee, Let's Go Pikachu, ontop of just being common pokemon overall?

A Pokemon Colosseum HC Nuzlocke sounds fun, but difficult.
one thing that I really like about this series is using some pretty bad pokemon that usually just get boxed or used as fodder but is instead one of the important members like plusel and illumise.
Who thought that Color Change, deemed to be the most terrible ability ever, would be USEFUL? XD

Oh, man. Colosseum was such a great game imo. I'm sad I haven't picked it up since High School. Great run though. Kinda hurt my soul when you KO'd Suicune and Raikou tbh lol.

Been loving the videos for this series! It's really interesting how diverse teams can be by not repeating Pokémon on games that have similar choices. I was wondering how you get the trade evolutions through level-ups, do you use a specific game rom or do you just play the game normally until they reach a certain level and trade it yourself with the other version?
I’m sure he is using an emulator and PKhex to force the trade evolution.

Not to nitpick but how in the absolute hell did you evolve Lombre into Ludicolo before gym 7? As far as I am aware, all blue shards require dive which requires the 7th badge and the only water stone that is not a shard trade is also locked behind dive in the abandoned ship.

What's with Blaziken not using any fighting moves except in the League Battle?
Sceptile may not have the best stat distribution, but its got a better base stat total than venusaur and has the highest spd stat of any starter pokemon. Never understood why people think it is the worst starter when theres stuff like meganium and emboar
Didn't even need Protect on the second Slaking. Focus Punch becomes unusable if the user is hit before attacking, making Slaking unable to actually attack.
Loving this series and video idea! Totally thinking about starting my own franchise nuzlocke! I did have a question about the final total of the Pokemon used though. Wouldn't it be 104? I noticed that both Oddish and Belossom from the last video are counted, but don't you have to evolve Oddish into Gloom to get Belossom?
Just give yourself 8-10 encoutners per game and you still end up with 2-3 hundred unused pokemon families.

ChaoticMeatball knows Pokémon, that is clear. What's also clear is ignorance about how the AI works. Knowing AI is a field of its own.
Of course the rival 3 started with a water Pokémon, not a grass Pokémon. You had the grass starter so the type weak to it gets sent out first. Bulbapedia obviously had the order for someone using Torchic. That is recurring in many guides. It's as if every guide writer knows Torchic is a great starter to speed though the game and base the guide off of that.
The AI using moves that are not very effective when your Pokémon are in deep red is also easily explained. The AI will use any move that can KO. Type effectiveness doesn't matter as long as it is enough. This makes it hard to pick a good switch in since the AI can use any move.

HM user, people complained about them in the Gen 1 video despite being un-nicknamed so I put an FAQ in the description but they still didn't like it so I just straight up didn't show one on screen for this so people wouldn't complain lolol
